The tango was a dance invented to make both male and female more passionate, and better lovers. The tango is considered to be a form of sexual foreplay, and if you ever really watched the tango closely, you can see why!

The male is very dominating, with the female being both dominate, (the curled finger, "COME HERE" gesture) and submissive. First she plays hard to get, but she warms up as the tango proceeds, and in the end she gives in and is totally submissive to the male, as he literally sweeps her off her feet.

Face it, even with women's lib, most women want a strong male that will protect her from the world and sweep her off her feet. Although the tango may be viewed by some as a relic from the dark ages for many others it is an exciting and passionate experience.

How did the tango start?

As odd as it may seem, the tango is only the third dance in the history of the world in which the man and woman face each other with the man holding the woman's right hand in his left, and his right hand around her. The very first dance done in this position was the Viennese Waltz, which was popular throughout Europe during the 1830s.

This new way of dancing was thought to be immoral and scandalous, as all other dancing involved no more physical touching and contact than a brief holding of hands. Dancing was a very formal and stiff affair, with very careful steps and timing. In the 1840s the Polka came into vogue, with couples holding each other the “new way”. Then....

The third dance, the tango, was completely different in not only the way the man held the woman, but that there were no real formal steps. The couple made the dance up as they went along. The tango would go on to influence the way we dance even to this day.

The tango started out in Argentina with the lower working class people. The tango would evolve into one of the most popular forms of dancing of the 19^th century.

It is said that the tango was born in the brothels of Buenos Aires. And, this is probably where the upper and middle classes first encountered it. The lower, immigrant classes and the upper and middle classes came into social contact through the brothels of the day.

The brothels were very popular, but because there were few women in all of Argentina, and even fewer yet to work the brothels, there would often be long lines of men, waiting to get in.

The owners of the brothels would often employ tango musicians to entertain the men as they waited in the long lines.

It did not take long for the men waiting in the brothel lines to start dancing the tango….with each other no less. When they finally did get a chance to tango with a real live woman, they had better be a good dancer, or they would not have a chance to dance again. ( Hence the saying, " You're done dancing!") There was a huge shortage of women in Argentina and these ladies had their pick. If a guy did not know how to dance the tango with ease and grace, he would quickly be replaced by another who did.

The tango music and dance united people of all kinds and classes. Men honed their dancing skills and tried new things to impress the women, hoping to stand out and get their attention, because that would be the only hope of getting a sweetheart or wife in that point of time in that culture. Because of this kind of competition, the tango grew and evolved into a form of courtship and later on ….even into a kind of foreplay.

What else turns women on? GOOD MANNERS! I am not kidding! Even if the guy is downright ugly, if he has good manners, most women will find him charming and like him. When men have good manners it makes a woman feel secure, and that's what women really crave, feeling secure, like she is being taken care of.

Do you ever wonder how a really ugly guy gets all the good looking women? Ever wonder what he has? I know what you are probably thinking, and I will tell you right out, THAT does not matter to women all that much. In fact, good manners and sexual attraction go hand in hand. If you don't believe me, try it and see. Open doors, pull out chairs, treat your date like she is fragile and precious, and just watch her open up to you.

Lots of guys think you need all kinds of money for a woman to be interested in you, and I will tell you that is not true. Women will take a risk on a guy who she finds charming and well mannered, even if it looks like he will be poor for his entire life.

In the end, women want to be loved and cherished. They want to be protected and taken care of. The roles of both men and women have changed quite a lot over the last 50 years, but some thing never change, and never go out of style.

Good manners, and the tango will be here hundreds of years from now, turning on our great, great, great grandchildren the same way it turns us on today.
