Weighing The Pros And Cons Of Getting The Vaccine

Three Sentenced Play

Doctor: Mr. Lassiter why do you want to get the H1N1 Vaccine you're not in any risk group?

Lassiter: There's so many germs all over the place doc that I might not even be Jimmy Mack . Lassiter

Nurse : Um. That seems like Operation, Fascination Vaccination

There is a good and bad side to every event we encounter, you can either win or lose. Those who are looking for a sure thing are barking up the wrong tree, for like itself is risky-tomorrow is not promised to anyone, only the hope of tomorrow and even that is risky.

Hence we weigh the risks and benefits for everything we do, some things we give more attention to than others, and if it outweighs the benefits or vice-a-versa we are the ultimate judge of what is best for us even if the outcome is dicey.

In the case of the H1N1 Vaccine there have been mumblings and grumblings around town about its safeness and efficacy. However now that there is no vaccine available everyone seems like a vampire looking for a mate when it comes to getting the shots. To make matters worse even the Seasonal Flu Vaccine is kaput in many instances.

The writer went to a prestigious, potentate clinic to get the Seasonal Flu Shot, which I have taken since the 9/11/01 event to know the difference between Anthrax and Flu symptoms as there were several attacks via the mail in Gotham and around the nation; I received the last Vaccine which was very unusual -but it seems like everyone came out of the wood works like jack rabbits because of H1N1 now everyone is getting serious about any flu. I felt so bad because I was ahead of a woman who was huffing and puffing with what seemed like a bad case of Asthma; I really don't like to see people do without

At this point it seems to be no Pneumonia or Seasonal Vaccines at the Rite Aid and other pharmacies which administers them to the public. Despite this, there are still those who have cold feet and will probably crash when we are in the heat of this emergency when things will be either too hot or at a standstill to make a decision about the Vaccine. Thus, it may be best for these people to address their fears while there is chance before they are stampeded with an emergency. Below is the possible pros and cons which my be in the doubtful's head:

The Pros

  1. It may prevent me from getting the flu or lessen its severity
  2. I won't infect others
  3. The vaccine appears to be safe
  4. I'll be able to function instead of being knocked off my feet in bed.
  5. I'll be able to help my community or family in times of crisis because I won't be ill.

The Cons

  1. It's new and may be dangerous
  2. I may have a reaction
  3. I may be uncomfortable for a couple of days
  4. It may harm me or my family
  5. If something happens to me or my kids what shall I do?

You can outline your own pros and cons this was merely a guide to help you understand what's going on inside of you and help you decide the course of action based on facts. Trying to be objective about emotional issues like sickness, death and risk is a hard pill to swallow. Dealing with feel-good complacency and spine tingling fear takes skill and time. What might be helpful is to talk to someone who has taken the Vaccine and if you know someone in the medical profession personally talk to them. And speak to your physican.

People often refer to the botched Swine Flu Vaccination brouhaha of 1976 when some people died and others came down with Guillen Barr Syndrome. The answer to those fears is that situation may not apply today because medicine and the Vaccine system is a different universe as opposed to 1976 If all of this makes your head spin welcome to Operation, Fascination Vaccination as the Nurse in the 3 sentenced play said.
