HDTV Broadcast
You may already know this about HDTV Broadcast, but. . .
If you're receiving free, over-the-air television from an HDTV Broadcast, you have several distinct advantages over others who are paying a monthly cable or satellie bill.
First, there is a limit to the bandwidth both cable and satellite companies can use to deliver content. That means, there is a limit to the number of channels in High Definition you can receive from cable or satellite, or, if you are receiving more channels, less of them are in High Definition, and more are in Standard Definition, which is far inferior to what you receive with an HDTV Broadcast. Satellite and cable companies also use signal compression to reduce the amount of bandwidth required by a given channel. The result? A pronounced reduction in signal quality. High Definition is no longer High Definition. On the other hand, with a free, over-the-air HDTV Broadcast, you are receiving a signal from a local broadcast tower that way the network intended it to be viewed, and that' s more often then not in High Definition.
Secondly, HDTV Broadcasts that are received by an antenna are local broadcast channels. The HDTV Broadcasts contain information relevant to where you live and what you do, in your town. In contrast, there is often an additional fee to carry local channels on satellite - and even cable. And, back to the bandwidth issue above, when the local channels are provided by cable or satellite, they are often not in High Definition. That means plugging an antenna in your HDTV and using the ATSC tuner to receive local, free, over-the-air HDTV Broadcasts will provide a much high quality viewing experience then watching the same channels through your paid cable or satellite service. Don't believe it? Try it.
And finally, the only cost associated with HDTV Broadcasts is the hardware; there is no recurring monthly bill you have to pay to continue to receive service. The only hardware you need is an HDTV with an ATSC tuner and an antenna. The specific antenna you'll need will vary according to where you live in relation to your local towers that actually deliver the HDTV Broadcast available in your area.
There's nothing like enjoying High Definition Television - the absolute highest quality viewing experience - for free. It's out there, waiting to be discovered. Take the first step; life without a cable or satellite bill is much more enjoyable.
Let's say your cable or satellite bill is $50/month. If you multiply $50/month times 12 months, you get $600. Think about that; when you cancel this "service", you'll save $600 per year. How? HDTV Broadcast.
I do wonder how you'd spend that extra $600/year.
Until next time.
