I am a long time Microsoft Windows user, I have been with Microsoft for a very long time, even though I totally disagreed with their Windows Vista release. I never bought it and I will not support as a computer consultant. Now having to look forward and not happily towards yet another Windows OS release and all those wonderful updates we will need, my husband convinced me to try something Windowless. So he had me download Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, all which are part of an open-source network. I rather enjoyed the experience and I DELETED Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook. Mozilla has all the same features and Microsoft did, but the freedom of not using a Microsoft products on my computer was exhilarating!!!!

Then my husband decided to make his computer totally open source and he installed Fedora Operating system from Red Hat Linux and he is now totally FREE of Windows!!! HE absolutely LOVES Linux (the Red Hat and TUX the Penguin are really cute!!) and he is able to do exactly what he was doing in Windows in Linux. Obviously he is a little more technically savvy than me and when I use Linux I don't find it very user friendly (not very GUI !!). I liked the products that you can use with Linux but I am a visual type person, and I like things simple not to technical, after all I am not a software engineer.

My husband and I have never been an Apple fan, we don't have the IPhone nor do we have the IPod. But........today at work I was exposed to the new IMAC !!! I couldn't believe my eyes, it was so cool looking and I couldn't believe it didn't come with a CPU (tower)!!! I know I am getting old but a hard drive inside the monitor ???!!!!!! I was at a loss for words. I have been told that the IMAC OS is referred to as Leopard, their web browser is referred as Safari and even more surprising it will run Microsoft Office !!! WOW !!!

So now I have a dilemma, do I want to continue washing Windows, wear a Red Hat and get a little more savvy with the Penguin or should I go on a Safari with the Leopard. I know I will never convince my husband to get an Apple, but maybe I should be a rebel for a change and go with the Leopard OS.

Any feedback to help me decide on this issue would be appreciative. Thanks
