I know on my latest hub I talked about how to build your own computer but what I would like to do on this hub is go into a little more detail about my version of the computer and also set something up so I can answer any questions people may be having. Aside from what a lot people say building computer’s is simple and a lot of people build it up to be a lot harder than it truly is.

Let me explain to you my first build and the simple components that went in to it, on my first build I used all new parts for the simple reason that I was able to get some good customer reviews online and reviews on computer parts are really important (thanks Rodney Reynold’s) so therefore I was able to order the new parts having a lot of good information on them and also after reading the reviews I was able to find out which components were compatible. For my first build I chose the cooler master stacker 830 evolution black aluminum computer case, it got 5 eggs from newegg which by the way is the best place to shop for your computer parts and tigerdirect. But I chose this case because it has a lot of room and plenty of fans, a removable motherboard tray, and it is well built just as all cooler master products.

For the motherboard I chose the gigabyte GA-EP45C-UD3R LGA 775 intel P45 atx motherboard, not a bad board for the price the thing I love about this board is the option to run ddr2 or ddr3 memory but if you plan to run dual video cards then try a different board because this one only has 1 pci express 16 slot. For my cpu I chose the intel core 2 quad Q8300 2.5GHZ processor which with the above motherboard combo I was easily able to overclock to 3.5GHZ. This is a good cpu that will step you up into the quad core world for around 180.00 dollars so all in all I would say it’s a good price for a quad core cpu. Now for my power supply I chose the tagan abs BZ series BZ900 900 watt power supply from abslabs. O man this is a amazing power supply, its not 100% modular buts it pretty close and its also sli ready if you plan to run dual video and such the price for this thing will set you back a bit but you will be able to use this psu in your next 3 computer builds. For my memory im using corsair 4GB (2x2GB) 240pin ddr2 sdram, this is very good ram at a great price to bad xp wont recognize all 4 gigs. Moving on for my graphics card I am using the nvidia geforce 9500 gt, it’s an ok video card but I would like to upgrade maybe one day, man I hope my current video card doesn’t get mad and quit working now. I also have 2 sata lg 22x lightscribe dvd burners, a thermaltake 4 switch drive bay fan controller with led lights, and 7 120mm fans, 1 front and 4 side intake fans and 1 top and 1 back exhaust fans.

Also because my cpu is overclocked by 1ghz I went ahead and added a thermaltake high performance cpu cooler, and I additionally have 3 70 mm pci slot fans underneath my video card. And I think that just about raps up my system that I built all for around 1400.00 dollars ( the case was 220.00 by itself) and I would eventually like to make some changes later on when I get the money for instance right now I have 2 hard drives, 1 western digital green 500 gb and 1 western digital blue 350 gb hard drive but I would like to get 2 velociraptor hard drives 250 gb or so and run them in zero raid configuration. And also like I was saying earlier I would also like to upgrade the graphics card and maybe start experimenting with ddr3 memory but will see.

So for round 1000.00 dollars you can build yourself a good budget gaming pc or 500.00 dollars should get you a good budget at home basic pc, also check newegg and tigerdirect daily because a lot of times they have specials and good deals that will make your build even cheaper. For your operating system if your really wanting to get the most from your ram I would go with window’s vista 64 bit operating system because that will recognize all 4 gigs were as 32 bit and windows xp will not. Due to the beta issues and everything not being compatible I am using window’s xp service pack 3 but that’s just my personal preference there’s nothing wrong with any of the other operating systems I just cant seem to get away from xp right now. Now what I really want to do is help people who would really like to build there first pc so if you would please leave a comment on this page with a email address I can reach you at and I will answer any questions you may have about setting up your system.
