HTML email links are probably one of the best ways to improve the content of your site and also to improve the credibility of the product or service that you espouse. Links are basically hyperlinks that are inserted into your email. On clicking these links, the recipient will be directed to an article or a blog on the internet where your product is being endorsed. This is specifically just one type of link, the endorsement link. In addition to this, there are also other types of links that can be used. Some links can be used to bolster the content by pointing the user to some kind of knowledge base that will help elucidate the point of the email. Yet other links can actually point to partner sites when there is some kind of cross-promotional arrange in place. These are all links that are as valid as the humble landing page of your own site from where a sale of a product can actually take place.
Let’s take a close look at the three types of email links.
1. Endorsements. These are the simplest and most useful forms of links. The logic goes that someone has already used your product and probably has had a very good experience with it. That person could have even decided to add this little fact of their life in a blog or in some kind of an internet article. If this is the case, then all you have to do is to place a link from your HTML email that will direct the reader to that site or blog. This is a really good way to get the average Joe to believe and trust in your product or service.
2. Knowledge bases. This type of link is used when the subject matter being dealt with is extremely complex or there is some kind of cross referencing required to deal with it. This is usually the case with email that is selling some kind of pharmaceutical product but can be extended to nearly any kind of product. You could place crucial links from your email to an online encyclopedia or to a streaming site that will explain the concept in more detail.
3. Cross promotional. These links are used when you want to run some kind of cross promotional sales effort. This is a bit unusual form of link because not many people really like to give away their customers this way but this can be beneficial as well. Imagine selling a car over the internet along with a link to a car accessories manufacturer’s website. This kind of a link in your HTML email would actually be an additional service that you offer your customers.
The landing page is where most of the links eventually have to come together. The landing page in question here is on your own website where all the sales start from. This should be the place where you put all of your point of sale sales spiel.
