False sense of security is infecting the community

These are here to make you aware of the truth
These are here to make you aware of the truth

Easy hacks most Myspacers don't know about

These to my knowledge aren't showing up in any books.

When you join myspace you can make your profile private, and its THE ONLY WAY to secure your friends list, your private anything really. If you can do it within the standard features myspace offers (privacy settings for example) then it cannot be bypassed, but if the user has to add code to his/her about me page then its absolutely a deception that this is protected. People draw a false sense of security when using these codes. I discovered it when I was trying to show my friends that nothing is truly safe unless its blocked in the code (from the sourse).

I was determined to figure out how to get at this list to see if I could get at a hidden friends list, pictures etc... Turns out that the codes for myspace pages is unprotected (i.e. not set to private by myspace not codes you enter).

Profiles are always broadcasted. This means as long as you have to enter codes into a box to make the feature happen its still there. It works alot like cable tv. The signal to all of the channels are broadcast in that wire but the box scrambles the unpaid for signals. Well myspace doesnt block anything when you add code, actually whats happening is the whole code comes in like nothing was changed, but your added code is piggie backed onto the myspace base code and its your browser that actually hides the features by telling the browser not to show it.

What happens is the code is appended to change this one word in various places: "Visibility" (so simple its almost an insult huh)

Un- Hiding the entire page! Hack

1. For hiding tables like your friends frame, for changing the look of the page they hide the frame and use CSS (cascading style sheets) to rebuild a new frame), or to wipe the whole page so you can make it look like a web page with no frame boxes. (this is also how they swap the picture to the right side not the left in some designs)

"style="visibility:visible;

then on any thing hidden (also this is all they do to hide anything is flip this code to

"visibility:invisible"

the codes you enter basically append (add to) the format code, as the format code says "visibility:show" or "vidibility:invisible" the codes you enter will add a new line below that updating the read to "Visibility:visible" or "Visibility:show"

the picture took like this lol

Un-Hiding features in the page like friends, pictures, comments box etc..

1. Hiding friends

If you're cheating you may try to hide the friends so your boyfriend wont see who your talking to. He can hack this easily (sorry to burst your bubble) by

  • a. Go to their page and click file> save as> whole page. Once their page is cloned to your desktop you open the html document in an editor and go to the code, do a search in the code from the tool bar (usually you can click edit find on this page) enter:

Simply the keyword: visibility then when it finds it just start typing (editing as its highlighted already) "visible" without the quotes. Change all invisibles to visible and this unlocks all hidden parts of the page :) brilliant.

  • b. second hack is to use logic. Go to your own page scroll down to the friends box and you'll notice the box below the friends has a link to three pages.

View (screen name or avatar title of their page) ‘s friends: ALL | Online | New

Right click the link ALL and select "copy shortcut" this puts the url into your buffer. Open word pad and right click paste this into it. The url will look like this:

http://friends.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewfriends&friendID=53964414

that's my friends page for my account. To hack their page without even going to their page, just (well you do need to go for a second) go to their front page and on the top of the browser (in the web url box that shows you where you are it will look like this (this is my myspace page):

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=53964414

the only difference between your page and anyone else's is that last group of numbers the (for each page theirs a different url structure but the only different between your view friends, view pictures etc.. and mine is that number :

&friendid=3964414

get this url from going to their page all you need is the number on their url and change the one on this to theirs (their friendid # then hit go.. it will bypass their front page and take you directly to their friends all page :)

you can do this for pictures or anything else on their page.

How about HIDING email in your myspace mail box from prying eyes (say you get up and go to the bathroom)

Hiding the email in your box: a level 1 hack to hide from prying eyes like roommates etc.. (if their not attentive)

This one I found when a girl told me just how cute she thought I was and trailed this with over 200 apostrophizes ( !!!!!!!!! ).. this somehow confused the myspace page and bounced the entire text frame out of the whole format to way below at the bottom of the page. I realized this was the problem because back in the aol days we used this type of thing to create "Punt" email bombs that would knock people offline (because computer memory was so small an unsophisticated it filled their memory and aol software crashed)

To see it you just scroll down (a lot).. but to the normal myspacer this is not common sense so they see it looks like a blank email and will 1. try to reload the page 2. leave thinking theirs nothing in the mail.

Annoying intrusive layouts taking over "Home" button to trick you into going to their site

Removing all those annoying advertisement links to the layout authors site, (some are unnecessary like tricking your "home' button into taking the visitor to their page, this is invasive, I can understand giving them credit for their work but this is uncool.

To remove the gif's /jpg's or links do this:

Same as view source above only search for their .com i.e. freesourcecode.com but a lot of these are needed urls, to find the ones for the particular gif you do this. On your page you right click and click "properties" then copy that url to your buffer (Highlight right click copy) then paste the url into the search box (as the keyword use the whole gif location url) and it will find it. All you have to do is hit del on your keyboard when it finds it, you remove the url nothing loads, problem solved.

The home button is the same way only you're looking for a different code that usually comes right after the home link code what they do is put a transparent picture over the home button so you can right click the area over the home button and get the url you'll notice if this is there that when your mouse goes over the link a square will show up (on pages especially with effects where mouse overs make pictures change because this is a picture it will make it fade like any other! You delete it out the same way.

More to come as I remember them.. I put this here not to humiliate those using the code to hide their friends etc.. I put this here to make you aware that this is NOT safe, as anyone can bypass it easily, so you shouldn't think you can hide anything unless myspace does it for you in the privates screen in edit account settings. I learned about the number when I used a template that added the other pages to the front page (neat huh?) and had to enter that number into several codes to make it work. They turned the whole page into a big camera which was neat, but it didn't function too well, looked pretty cool though.

Save music without software on myspace Music...

Scary

Turns out the hackers have figured out how to exploit an account without needing the log in credentials. What's scary is just opening a hacked page will infect your account and hijack it. Below are videos on all of this and links to the informationI found.. simply shocking. turns out the hacker program that steals accounts is REAL. If your hacked/hijacked go here for the fix.

to avoid this DO NOT open spam mail from people you dont know.. they can redirect you inside the email or if they link you somewhere they can bomb you that way, the way their doing it though is by your checking out their myspace profile. Just opening their profile infects you!

to see this program in action youtube has a bunch of kids showing screenshots (its impressively scary) I had a bunch on here but they kept being shut down so I'll just let you find them on youtube keyword "myspace hacker"

Now something that scared even me (sort of)....and I dont scare easily...

Someone reading this page asked me a question in email and I thought others could benefit from the answer:

i came across your page from this site(link to this page was here) i got a question, how on earth did someone manage to leave comments on my page when my page is set in private and i didnt even add her as my friend?

My reply:

theirs a hacker program circulating that allows them to log into your account using a flash exploit, this flash program can open if one of the people on your friends list got hacked and they could log into it at any point and your on THEIR list..

they just log in and find you run your ip address through the program and access yoru account. The second way is they have a flash bomb that if they get hacked and you just click into a friends profile with the flash bomb installed (they get hacked and it overwrites their profile with the flash file refrence loading it which redirects you to their page then infects you, but since your profile is unaffected (I assume) then this isnt it)..

In my research I saw their was also a way to bypass the friend filter by using a certain format in sending the message to you.

for example if they format the URL a certain way myspace.com thinks you are a friend and have access to their account features like comments etc.. I don't know alot about it but google myspace hacks and you'll find what you need, I saw these discussions in forums i.e. google how do I hack a private myspace account etc..

I didnt test any of these things out as I value my account, if you use your own account to do this even if you just use a url encoded correctly this violates tos.. some people I think create fresh accounts and do it but realize your IP address is the same no matter what account you use and they will find out its you if you do this on the same internet connection (unless you use dial up which changes IP every time you log in to your connection.. with most of the world on broadband IP addresses dont change..

but I impore you to go to google and start looking up the subject to learn how to protect yourself..

This is amazing. What benefit do people get from doing this to people's MySpace page? So, when it is suggested to change your password all time, I am guessing this does not really help you either? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and educating everyone. It is a very sad eye opener.

Just wondering how I can get someone's I.P. address and access their private myspace account? someone did this to me and I was just wanting to know how they did it and how I can show them that I am just as smart as they are!!

Jerrico Usher profile image

Jerrico Usher  says:

well. You could create a hubpages account and lure them into a hub to leave a comment which will give you their IP address *smiles* for example I have yours because you left this comment. Getting someone's IP address is really not that hard, knowing how to use it or decypher it is another story.

I'm no hacker and I wouldnt teach you how to break into someones account if I knew how, and if you do what they did are you any better than they are? Karma would get you as it will get them. I will tell you this however.. if you google "hacking myspace" you can learn just how they got into your private account. I will say this though.. its not that they got your password, or even violated your IP address or any other information, it was probably due to a bug in myspaces infrastructure that allows people to bypass their privacy protocols.

Myspace uses URL formatting as a tool for accessing accounts. Based on a certain format of using the url language you can bypass even a private account without breaking into it. You can't do anything damaging this way nor could they, other than scaring someone into thinking they got hacked. Truth is they just bypassed the filter and were able to look like they were your friend and thus allowed to leave a comment.

I warn you though this is against myspace TOS and if you use it they will find out as it sets off a red flag and your account will be terminated as a result. No warnings.

If your worried about them hacking you because they left a comment on a private set account, don't. This is a simple url trick. They often set up a new account and do this. But be warned that myspace knows that people do this and if you use the same computer or your home computer the IP address will be the same and will set off a red flag.

Not only will your fake account be terminated but the IP address will link your actual account to the other and thus you'll lose both and any future access to creating an account. The only work around is using dial up so your IP address is dynamic. If your on broadband you can't really fake it.. well theirs a way but...

It's this idiotic (in my opinion) "anonymous truth" app. that you put on your page and your friends can tell you how they really feel about you, etc.

However,

not many people have used it yet and don't know how it works.

That's why I made a fake one that leaves comments instead so you can find out who said what about you (if they are stupid enough to fall for it)

I have read ur thoughts on truth box and supported ur same thoughts until last week. I am a mother of a 16 year old daughter whom down loaded the app. 2 months ago. Last week she received a truth box message from a supposed male that threatened rape, kidnapping, and murder. It was not the simple I wish u were dead and u suck comment. It was disturbingly graphic so much so that she is no longer allowed on my space nor is she allowed to leave this house without an adult to accompany her. I did contact the local sheriff and filed a report they took a copy of the message and wrote down all my computer info. They told me that they contacted my space but since truth box is no affiliation they could not help. Now they are in the process of contacting truth box. One problem it turns out is that my daughter happened to down load a third party truth box (whatever that means). The sheriff said with it being a third party it is going to be more difficult to get this resolved. Naturally I want to know now. God knows if it is someone we think we can trust. If u have any answers I would greatly appreciate ur help. u can email me at breefer@myway.com. Thank you for ur time.

Jerrico Usher profile image

Jerrico Usher  says:

The truth box application does record who left the message although the person using it cannot access this information the owner of the application (third party vender) can, in fact I saw them (some of them) offering to give you a hint of who left the message if you jump through hoops (clicking ads, adding other aps etc..). The easiest solution is to cotact the truth box application vender and have them give you the name of the myspace page that left the message.

Another thing you can do is keep the site open, add one of those myspace tracker codes to the page, when the person returns their ip address and location information will be there in the IP address. It's a sort of little red riding hood waits for the big bad wolf tactic but it would work.

Nothing on this page is amazing new knowledge, you didn't claim it was and I don't have any bad thoughts for you. It does however baffle me to see the number of people who are begging for hacks and cracks when you have exhibited no "1337" skills. I think these kids need to find someone else to employ, it's really very pathetic to see such desperation.

Hacking truthbox... Are you kidding me, why can't someone just explain how trutbox works already so these kids will understand what they are asking... actually I tell you what, ill do just that.

First of all, truthbox is an app, stopping asking for fake ones because myspace would have to be run by douchebags like you to permit it. Yes they review and permit apps, big suprise.

Second, no you cannot make a non app that will run like truthbox but actually send you a message. The person will know immedaitly that they've been duped because of the redirect ,or lack thereof, after they sen.

Three, there is no secret trick to finding out who sent you a message through the real truthbox. The e-signature of the sender is taken out when the message is routed through the applications source location. You would have to go through one hell of an endeavor hacking into their files and putting the puzzle peices together to find that information. It's doable but chances are if anyone said something so horrible that you had to do that, you would be able to contact the provider and get their information with much less trouble.

Essentially what you should be realizing here is that hacking truthbox is possible, but its really just a pain in the ass and most likely not worth the time your looking at spending, or the money. Maybe someday ill do it for funzzies, doubtful. Take heart in knowing that the application is doing what it's suppsosed to and that people aren't mass exploiting it. Try not to be a dishonest bastard.

Zainster14, Nice comment. I am not leet lol, although I do possess the ability to be such I don't choose to waste my time with such endeavors, I know enough to not be in the dark however. I get sick of all these kids commenting or sending me myspace emails to help them hack something (myspace? truth box? etc..) and more than half the comments that come in are not published because I'm not going to dignify their rediculous rant with a response, public or otherwise. This hub is not written to show anyone how to hack anything, its just simple tricks that most people should know anyway about how to unlock those so called hidden features.

I wrote this just to make aware that using those html hide codes in myspace is a ruse and your not hiding anything. I wanted to show people this so they realize that anyone can still find the so called hidden information. The only way to truly hide it is to make your profile private because then the html isn't published (then hidden as is in the case of the hide codes, its published and the html simply says dont "Show" not remove from the broadcasted page!!)

I wrote this hub for fun too, I was new to hubpages and needed something fun and I saw myspace as a good high traffic subject topic, and it turned out to be just that (this hub's reached over 80k hits with no promotion) this is not a hacking hub the hacking terms are just for keyword popularity lol thanks for your feedback Zainster14 finally a real comment on target.

How about you go to the store and purchase some self esteem then dump the guy for not being open with you, if your so desperate that you have to try to break into his myspace then he's not worth it, and if you think he is then your not even aware that your going to lose more than your trust for him in this relationship. If he's hiding that he has a myspace then he is cheating on you, or is a player... don't be a sap, move on its not worth it.

p.s. if someone researched me like you did him I'd dump her in a heartbeat for invading my privacy.

The difference between a random 16 year old child and a wise adult is wisdom. You talk of that which you have no real clue about- what I know. I know more than I'd publish on the web because kids like you would take those insights and use them to stalk and harm other people. What's in this hub is meant to be informative, not ego driven muck to satisfy your need to cheat in life. I have no doubt you may know a thing or two but realize knowing the path and knowing what to allow others to know, what to share that is safe to know, is the difference.

The information in this hub may be obvious to you but there are a million if not more people out there that don't know anything in this hub so this is informative to them. The way you posted your comment shows me your maturity, and your lack of true wisdom. You should put your ego in check so that you may learn a thing or two YOUNG man. :) Everything you do causes karma, if you teach idiots how to hurt others, or violate their privacy then you take on the karma of the things they do with that information. Information is not just benign, and I don't share that which kids will use incorrectly or selfishly.

Jerrico

p.s. I was going to delete his comment as I do not usually publish such ego driven crap as his comment is, but I thought I'd use him as an example of what not to do :)

TO THOSE OF YOU WANTING TO KNOW ABOUT TRUTHBOX!

Alright so of course it's all anonymous everything is anonymous, well not quite if they have the application as well.

First off, you need to have Mozilla Firefox.

Log into myspace and go into Truthbox.

Ok so your looking at your truths you have received right?

Ok well this only works if you can reply to the truth. If it's grey with a penguin than I am sorry but your out of luck, the user does not have it installed thus you wont be able to find out who sent it.

With that being said, go to the truth you want to know and highlight "BLOCK USER"

Right click on the highlighted area and select "View Selection Source"

What will pop up next is a window box with a lengthy HTML code.

What you are looking for is the "Block User" in the HTML code. Because next to the block user you will find it says ID(with the user friend ID right there)

All you have to do now is copy the friend id and paste it in your browser with the right link to go to that persons page.

Like I said it can only be done with Mozilla and if the user has Truthbox, meaning the Truth must be highlighted blue or pink around it not grey like the penguin.

Hope this helps, hope you understood it.

More questions about it.

any new ways to see a private profile?

You can easily vew somones page that has "privatized" it with code, by simply using Mozilla Firefox. If you are on the persons page that you are wanting to veiw simply click "View - Page Style - No Style." That will make it so you can see hidden comments or anything else that may be hidden on the persons page.

This will NOT work for a Private profile, only profiles that have the hidden codes on there.

This didn't work for me, I must have done something wrong... I just want to make sure my daughter isn't getting into any mischief on MySpace but it seems to be harder than I thought

Hey Dan,

Here's an idea. Ask her for her password and if you feel you have to... make up an excuse like you know how to block hackers and want to add the code to her page. If she won't give it to you, tell her it's too unsafe because of what you learned on this hub and take the computer away. While you're in there, keep her password the same but change her email address to yours in the My Account section. That way, if she changes her password in the future you'll be able to find out what it is. Of course she'll probably figure it out. That would be a good time to have the "if there's something on there I shouldn't see, you shouldn't be saying/doing it" talk.

none of these methods work anymore due to myspace cracking down on loopholes such as this.you will need to find new loopholes and use them quick as nearly every 2 or 3 weeks myspace examines and closes nearly all the loopholes

The "loopholes" worked when I built this hub, and I built this to make others aware of it (not to exploit how to use it) the bulk of this hub is not about loopholes however, it's about letting people know that using code to hide friends lists etc... is about as secure as putting a paper mache' door on your house and not expecting anyone to be able to break in.

these things still are in effect and always will be so long as myspace allows people to use code this way. This hub is nto to show people how to circumvent anythng but rather to show them that this false sense of security doesn't work. The only way to truly protect your privacy is to use myspaces privacy features in settings not by adding code to your page.
