There is plenty to do on the park itself with a host of activities aimed at the grown-up as well as kids; you can play sports or go horse riding or take a dip in one of the on site swimming pools if you have energy to burn, but if not then you can let your cares slip away in the luxury spa.

All the clubs offer safe and supervised environment in which the kids can be entertained while the parents take some time off.

Accomodation

Although Haggerston Castle is described as a Caravan Park you dont need to actually stay in a Caravan. The site includes the following choices of accomodation when you book your stay:

  • Caravans - This is the obviously the most popular choice of accomodation when choosing to stay in a caravan park. There is a broad selection of caravans to choose from ranging from the 'Standard' Caravan all the way up the the 'Platinum' Range which offers everythng you'd find in the standard plus luxurys like double glazing, extra space and a flat screen TV.
  • Luxury Lodges - If a caravan is not for you then you could try one of these instead. Like a home away from home, these luxury lodges have been designed without compromise.
  • Adapted Holiday Homes - These homes have designed to provide unrestricted wheelchair access with ramps, wide sliding doors, converted WC/Shower Room and trapeze lift handles. Having 2 bedrooms and convertible beds in the lounge, they are suitable for family and/or carer.

Northumberland

If you are not one for staying in one place on your holiday then Haggerston Castle offers plenty of opportunities to explore the Great British countryside, situated as it is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just on the doorstop of the British countryside and only a few miles away from stretches of dramatic undiscovered coastline.

Alnwick Castle

Just down the road is the world famous Alnwick Castle, a truly historic building dating back from Medieval times with a history thats not for the feint of heart. The castle itself has proven popular with movie makers over the years and has made an appearance (most notably) in the recent Harry Potter films as well as 'Elizabeth' and the BBC series 'The Black Adder'.

Northumberland Coast

We've already mentioned the Northumberland coast quite a lot but it can't be over-emphasised that this stretch of coastline is among the most beautiful in the country. There are 1935 Square miles to Northumberland and it well respected as the Best Kept Secret in England. Next door to the Scottish Borders and on the North Sea, the Northumberland Coastline is one hundred miles long and is designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne is the source of English Christianity and any trip to Northumberland is not complete with a visit to the Holy Island. The magnificent 16th century Lindisfarne Castle dominates the rocky outcrop on which the island stands, cut-off from the mainland twice a day by the North Sea in an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Intimately decorated and designed this Enchanting Tudor Fort is full of turrets and small rooms with gorgeous views of the coast as well as the walled garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll.
