Haiku challenge
551000 Haiku
A friend of mine named Samme wrote 1000 haiku to discipline himself and grow as a poet/writer/spiritual being. I find this incredibly challenging. Haiku in the American tradition is a poem of three lines. The first and third lines have five syllables. The middle line has seven. Purists more familiar with Chinese haiku say this is not correct. It is not 5/7/5 syllables but sounds. Others say that it is not the sounds but the metaphorical simplicity that defines a true haiku. I plan to begin where I am most comfortable and go from there.
If you wish to join me, please begin your own connecting hub and keep track of your haiku in this way. I will use my comment board to add my haiku- or I will lose track. I look forward to discovering you inside your haiku!
