Hair Electrolysis
67Electrolysis Permanent Hair Removal
Permanent hair removal can save us from many moments of torture we have to go through each and every month, if we want to be beautiful according to modern standards which require women to be hairless on such a big skin surface. Legs, bikini line, arms, face, belly, are those areas where we don't want to see hairs on a lady. Since Mother Nature didn't take that into account and made us a bit more hairy than this, we need to get rid of those hairs by any means we can. Some of us are going for shaving, which is not painful, but which has several drawbacks. For instance, the hairs grow back faster and stronger and many times they multiply.
Waxing is better, because it weakens the hair roots, but it's quite painful and it may lead to ingrown hairs which are ugly and which can get infected very easily.
Laser hair removal is one of the great discoveries of modern science, but it's expensive, so not everybody can afford it.
Electrolysis is one of the less-known permanent hair removal methods. The process consists of inserting a small probe into the hair follicles, one by one, destroying them for good. After that, the hairs are very easy to remove with forceps or tweezers. These hairs will never grow back again, but you can imagine that it takes quite a long time to take all those hairs one by one and apply the treatment.
Like in the case of laser, electrolysis hair removal may need several sessions in order for the hairs to completely stop growing. This depends from person to person.

Is Hair Electrolysis Dangerous?
There is a popular belief that temporary hair removal methods are the best options. This is in fact just a myth, because if done in proper conditions, electrolysis is much better, as it doesn't irritate the skin like wax or chemicals may do.
However, there's some truth in this statement: hair electrolysis can be dangerous and harmful if applied by somebody who's not a professional. Unfortunately, home devices for hair electrolysis are available on the market, so virtually anybody can buy one and use it at home. I think that going to a specialist to have your hair removed is much safer. As far as I know, electrologists are required to be licensed or certified in order to be allowed to practice. I don't know if that applies in all states and countries, but you can easily check that with your local legislation.
When you choose your practitioner, beware that there are several hair electrolysis procedures: with needles, with electric tweezers or with photoepilators. The real electrolysis is the one done with needles, so that's what you should go for.
If you still insist to do it at home with some special device like these ones depicted on the right side of this text, make sure you read the instructions very well before proceeding. Always start with a small area, until you see that the procedure is safe and it doesn't harm your skin. In case of any irritation of unusual symptoms, go to a dermatologist as soon as you can. Actually, it would be better to see a dermatologist before purchasing the device, in order to assess if it's safe enough for your specific case.
