Control Your Hair Loss
Control Your Hair Loss

Hair Loss is an unfortunate part of the ageing process, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with, in fact it probably only makes matters worse when you consider the loss of your hair actually just signifies the fact that you are getting old. The good news is, hair loss treatment is not difficult to come by.

Although it is generally accepted that it is very common for men to lose their hair, it is a much more difficult experience for women to cope with and one which is still quite a taboo subject.

Men often shave their heads and can look pretty masculine for doing it. Women on the other hand are considered to have lost the plot (think Britney Spears) or have tendencies of a homosexual nature, if they attempt to shear off all their hair.

People can underestimate the pain hair loss causes and for women the prospect of hair loss is a bitter pill to swallow, but it is not all as desperately gloomy as it may at first seem. The majority of hair loss causes for females are temporary. It can often come down to stress or a change in diet and lifestyle, or even the medication you are on.

Androgenetic alopecia is one of the most common types of hair loss affecting women today. This very often occurs after the menopause when nature plays havoc with your hormones. It is important not to panic and to try and ensure you are as healthy and active as possible, whilst remaining calm and most of all patients. There are many wonderful hair loss treatment products on the market nowadays, which are specifically designed to aid women facing baldness. Cosmetic products, hats, scarves and top-of-the-range, realistic looking wigs can all make this difficult time more bearable. Hair pieces can actually be a lot of fun; completely transforming your entire appearance in one fell swoop. Nowadays hair extensions are commonplace so people don’t even need to realise that there might be a hair-loss problem, you could just be going through a fashion craze.

Whereas men tend to get a receding hairline and sometimes a balding crown, when women lose their hair it tends to be a gradual thinning of all the hair across the head. Neither condition is pleasant.

Androgenetic alopecia also affects as many as 50% of men, it is caused by a chemical called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. Dihydrotestosterone is made from hormones that are naturally produced by men and women called androgens. When the androgens react with an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase it can make hair follicles thinner. People suffering from Androgenetic alopecia tend to produce an excessive amount of Dihydrotestosterone due to the fact that they have a lot of the enzyme in their bodies. The more DHT you have in your body, the more likely you are to start losing your hair.See here what kind of hair loss treatments exist to slow down and stop this process.

Although male hair loss is commonly accepted, this does not make it any easier to deal with. Men can feel just as anxious and depressed about the prospect of losing their hair as women. Being attractive to women is a very important part of the male ego and losing your hair can have a particularly adverse affect on this, seriously denting the male confidence and self-image.
