Best Hair Remover: Epilator Shaver
A longer lasting shave:
Consider epilating. Why? Regular shavers just shave hair at the surface. Personally, I am sensitive to shaving (my legs) and can’t do it too often or I break out. Not a lovely site. Also, it’s no fun at all to have to deal with unsightly, scratchy stubble for days before I can shave again.
I waxed my legs for a while, which is a good option, but it can be pricey, and you have to make the appointments...no big deal for many. For me, a stay-at-home-mom with little ones and a lack of babysitters and budget to pay for same, it’s kind of difficult. With waxing, the hair grows back a little thinner, so it’s not so scratchy, but once it starts to grow back you have to wait and deal with hairy legs until it’s long enough to get it waxed again, which is usually around ¼ inch long.
Epilators changed my life
Then I discovered epilators. Changed my life. Epilators work similar to waxing in that they pull your hair out from the root. Most ladies tweeze, or have tweezed at some point, their eyebrows, right? Well epilating is similar – imagine like 40 tweezers working in unison to pull out, at around 32,000 tweezes per minute, your unwanted hair. Now the only drawback here is that there can be some pain associated with epilating. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, so it’s hard to say just how much pain. I can tell you this much: the first time you do it is the worst. As with waxing, the hair comes back finer every time and that decreases the amount of pain associated with the epilating significantly. As everyone’s hair growth cycles vary, the amount of time between using your epilator will vary, but typically you can enjoy hair-free days for at least a couple of weeks, sometimes up to three or four weeks. Sometimes touch-ups are needed in between to get those hairs on a different cycle. The best part is that, unlike with waxing, you don’t have to wait until the hair gets long to epilate again! Most epilators – the good ones – will get even the very shortest of hairs.
The Braun Silk-Epil Xpressive Epilator
I own this one and love, love, love it. I absolutely love being able to have smooth, hair-free legs for weeks! It has a pivoting head that contours for more thoroughness. The smartlight is one of its best features - truly highlights every hair! The Xpressive features a massage system that stimulates skin before and soothes it after to reduce pain. It comes with shaver head and trimmer, massage system, an efficiency cap, and a beginner cap, as well as a pouch to hold it all in.
This one is corded, but the cord is long enough that I have plenty of slack when I plug it in and sit on the floor to begin my hair removal session. I prefer the cord also because I never want to deal with the possibility of losing battery power in the middle of shaving.

This epilator's technology allows you to fully immersed it in water without damage, so you can use it in the bath or shower with soap or shaving cream, or you can use it dry. Unlike most, it has 360-degree triple-spinning heads which covers more area in less time, catching hairs growing in all directions, for faster epilation. Braun Silk-Epil X-elle Epilator
This epilator features massaging rollers that glide over the skin to stimulate it with micro-pulsations before and after the hair is removed to reduce pain and discomfort. It is designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. Its tweezer system takes away even the tiniest hair and a "SmartLight" highlights every hair. Comes with an additional shaver head with trim attachment to trim hair on days you don't feel like epilating.
Emjoi Emagine Dual Opposed Tweezer Head Epilator
Most epilators have around 40 tweezer heads - this Emjoi Emagine has 72! It is the first epilator in the world to offer Silver Ion Technology, which provides anti-microbial protection. It has a technology to lift up the hair so that the tweezers "skate" over the skin, minimizing irritation. It is ergonomically designed to be comfortable and balanced in your hand, no matter how you are using it. This epilator is corded.
Final comment:
One word of caution if using on areas where skin is not taught such as the armpit area, be sure to pull skin as taught as you can, because people have complained about skin being pinched in these areas – ouch! - although I have not experienced this myself. Enjoy a hair-free life!
