If you are suffering the pain and embarrassment of baldness then finding out all the latest hair restoration techniques is a great idea.  You are doing the absolute best thing by searching around to find out what works and what doesn't work.  Baldness is one of those things that happens to you and is not your fault.  There are solutions to being bald which can give you back that 10 or 15 years younger look.

Medical hair restoration has been around for thousands of years.  Both the ancient Egyptians and Chinese had several remedies they used for premature hair loss.  Some of the were rather bizarre but they must have worked because they apparently used them for centuries.  Either that or they just had a good marketing plan.

The US FDA has OK's only two medications for hair restoration treatment.  Both of these were developed while testing the drugs for the treatment of other conditions.  The first of these, finasteride, was originally designed to treat male prostrate problems.  During the trials it was determined that the subject were also experiences good hair regrowth.  It is now marketed under the brand name Propecia and is available by prescription only.

The second drug is minoxidil.  This one was being tried on patients with cardiovascular problems and again regrowth of hair was experienced by some of the subjects.  This drug is usually sold over the counter as Rogaine and is applied as a cream to the balding area.

These are the only two drugs that have been approved for hair loss restoration so far by the FDA.  Some other ones are in development but have not been release yet.

Another great option is hair restoration surgery.  This involves removing hair follicles from the area of the scalp that still has good hair growth and inserting that hair into the bald area.  This procedure was originally not very successful because the techniques were not available to use micro-transplantation techniques.  Since the mid 90's though this hair restoration procedure has become very effective and very common.

As you can see by this picture, when a man suffers from male pattern baldness he still has a portion of the scalp with good hair growth.  The section at the lower back of the head almost always still has good hair fullness.  By removing part of this hair growth the surgeon is able to get natural looking hair to match the hair around the bald spot.  These transplanted hair follicles continue to grow just as if they were still at the back of the head.

If you are experiencing hair loss you owe it to yourself to find a solution.  As you can see there are many opportunities for hair restoration procedures available.   Spend some time searching out the one that is right for you and you can get back that youthful look.

You don't have to look as old as you do without hair.  Using some of these techniques or others that are available like hair replacement systems can easily make you look ten years younger.  You are not ready for the senior citizen life yet so do something about it.
