Learn How to Use Hair Straightners
Ok ladies, admit it, you all have tried to straighten your hair at home using a hair straightner and gotten frustrated at how difficult it is to achieve. I know I have. And even if I have managed to get my hair straight it never, ever looks as nice as when they straighten my hair at the salon, nor does it last as long. But I have recently discovered that two things are important when trying to straighten your hair and they are:
1. Buying a very good hair straightner
2. Practice, Practice, Practice
The first point is important if you don’t want to damage your hair very much, since you are applying a lot of heat to your hair when you’re straightening it, and the second is more or less self-explanatory. Practice makes perfect as they say.
The new hair straightners all have some sort of coating on the actual “ironing” part of the appliance, either ceramic or tourmaline, or both. This is designed to protect your hair from the heat, by putting an extra barrier between the two. So one word of advice is that you do not go cheap, but buy the one of the best hair straightenrs on the market, especially if you plan on using it often. The better ones also work better and you will see the results you want faster and they will last longer.
The Steps of Using Hair Straightners:
1. First wash and dry your hair. You will be using your hair straightner on dry hair. If you use a brush to dry your hair make sure to point the hair dryer downwards while doing so.
2. Heat up the hair straightner to the optimal temperature following instructions and place them on a non-inflammatory surface while you wait for it to heat up.
3. Spray your hair with a heat protective serum to lessen the heat damage to your hair even further. There are many good ones available and what they do is essentially put an extra protective barrier between your hair and the iron, as well as help distribute the heat more evenly.
4. For the actual straightening you want to divide your hair into manageable sections. Pin most of your hair up and leave only the bottom layer free then proceed to straighten each section of it slowly and evenly sliding the hair straightener from the root of the hair to the ends. Repeat until the section is straighten then move on to the next section. Be careful not to try and straighten too big a section at the same time and don’t keep the hair straightner on the same section for more than a few seconds. Repeat this process on all the rest of the sections of you hair, which could take some time. If you want you can also run a medium-tooth comb through your hair while straightening it to get an even better effect.
5. To keep you hair straight for as long as possible finish by coating your hair with a shine serum or by spraying some hair spray over it.
That’s it, the whole magic of using hair straightners! It will take some practice, but once you master the process it will be as easy as 1-2-3.
