What causes hair loss?
- Prolonged illness or major surgery
- Hormones
- Pregnancy
- Certain medication
- Certain types of infections
- Disease such as diabetes or lupus
- Genetics
Taking care of your hair is the most basic and natural hair loss prevention. It is important to avoid certain medications, lower stress levels, get proper protein and iron, and use hairstyles that are not damaging to the hair. A diet that is healthy and balanced is not only good for the overall health of your body, but your hair really benefits from it too.
Prevent Hair Loss in Early Stage
If you are in the early stages of losing your hair, some doctors will recommend using a shampoo that is made for babies, not shampooing your hair more than once in a day and lathering your hair gently. It is important also not to rub your hair too roughly with a towel, either. Experts believe that letting your hair air dry is much better than putting a blow dryer to it. It is better to even switch to using lower heat.
When styling you hair, wait until it is completely dry, do not style it when it is wet or even damp. If you style it while it is wet, you can cause it to stretch, break and fall off. Teasing of the hair can also cause great damage. It is also important to avoid using chemicals on the hair too often. These chemicals include both color and strengtheners.
