I guess it's too late for me to get that wispy coif aka feathered pixy crop that I've been longing to get. No, with every change comes sacrifice, and while we're on the cusp of having the best administration in American history, some misguided hairstylists decided to send the sweet, feathered pixy crop as a sacrificial lamb to the altar of change. Don't get me wrong, we still have a pixy crop but it doesn't have as much personality. It is flatter and longer or shorter, but that's a la mode for 2009 which, frankly, could be the best year in hair yet with manic variety borrowing from the 20s through 90s bygone eras. Just tweak it. Yes, get out your curling iron girls or visit your metrosexual coiffeur to get that funky perm if, say, your hair needs a lot of persuasion to undulate because curls are in! For the most part it's slick at the top and curly at the bottom. The kinky crop has replaced the pixy crop with just a hint of naughtiness compared to its more honest, daring feathered counterpart. Or if you prefer a prim and proper cutting edge style you might try a new sleek as a razor blade do. And as for bangs, they're shorter and more angular than ever. This is set to be one epic year in hair! And big hair to, might as well welcome the 80s back!

Curly Trends

Hollaback Curls

It's safe to say that Gwen Stefani was the pioneer of this funky do which is straight at the top and curly at the bottom when she sported her version during her first solo album L.A.M.B. It's not surprising that this trend-setter with an advanced and unique sense of style would set fire to a beautiful trend that pays homage to the forties in a retro 80s, new millenium style. While we're at it, who can forget Christina Aguerila's froetic gig during her dirrty years. Well, it's back with dash, poetic style, and a bit more discipline. This years curly trend ushers in a new romantic, artistic, and poetic era in hair (for this style at least)

Hair Trends with More Kinky Dos

Kinky Minx

Layered has become more tapered and the pixy crop is giving way to this minxy style. It has it all, personality (though not as much as its loud, plucky feathered counterpart), sexy appeal, and cute wrapped up in one hair trend.

Hair Trends with more Sleek Dos

Cyber Sleek

These looks can either look glamorous or futuristic. So if you want to transport us to the cyber future or pay homage to 20s glam, you can do so with this sleek as a razor blade fashion. You might find it popping up everywhere since many people prefer this style- especially designers.

New Updos

Never has the updo had such a romantic metamorphosis. Whether it be braiding your fringe, gathering your hair into an Amy Winehouse inspired beehive, wearing a bun at the side or both sides of your head (the Princess Leia cinnamon rolls are relentlessly holding onto its dominance in the fashion world), or simply gathering it in a side ponytail.

Nice Hub Rider. So if curly hair is in, I guess I can just throw my hair blower away. Thanks, you just saved me time.
