As I sit in the pumpkin patch, I first feel a nudge then I feel a pull and I am severed from my vine.

The farmer has harvested me for Halloween

The days have grown shorter and the frost is in the night air

AS I sit in the cart with countless other pumpkins, waiting for my fate

Soon we are placed in a store for display

The store is warm and bright

Soon a small boy approaches and says oh mom look this one is perfect

I am then hoisted into a cart and soon loaded into a car

Once we arrive at our destination, every one is called to admire me

I am put aside til later

Soon they come and get me, they place me on a table with newspaper under me

I am told my new name will soon be Jack....Jack O Lantern

I am quite excited,

I feel a prick and soon I have two eyes a nose and even a toothy grin

I am then placed on the porch with some other interesting characters.... a hay bale which I sit in front of..... a lovely yellow mum......and an interesting man made of straw they call him scare crow.

Here we sit watching over the house.....As night approaches it gets pretty cold. Soon someone comes and puts something warm in me......And I begin to glow.

Later people come and go, wearing costumes and carrying bags and containers that look like me....I think I am famous or something........Everyone is so happy and running to and fro.

Soon the traffic stops and no one else comes. The warm glow is gone and I am back to being plain ole Jack o lantern.........But I was a star for a day!!!! Not bad for a plain ole country pumpkin huh?
