Halloween, is it really worth all the dollars spent?

It's once again Halloween time and everyone is putting on their mask, cape and dress up boots. How much cash did you shell out on a costume for this year? If you were trying to save money, you probably are wearing your wings from last year, skirt from two years ago, and you bought a new top to change it up. So you bought one new piece to make the costume something new to wear out for the spooky holiday.

But there are many of us who empty or wallets getting that perfect costume we've been planning for weeks. We've got the petticoat the costume, the stockings, the shoes, makeup and the list goes on. We spend a good fifty to one hundred dollars on having the perfect costume that makes us feel just so pretty at the Halloween party.

Or, we wait til the last minute, go out buy a costume that still costs us the same, and we aren't that thrilled about it, yet we have to wear it, since it's the only new thing we have.

When the jack-o-lanterns are all smashed, the cider has all been drank, and all the candy given away, is it really worth the big bucks we spend to make ourselves feel good? Or would it be wiser to just limit oneself to spending twenty bucks on fixing up things we have to make a fab costume?

Great hub and good question. For my money, it's always better to be a little creative and just fix up something you have but you first have to decide what you want to be when you go out...slutty, funny or a well-known character. Make that decision and the rest should follow. I'm just always suprised that when I answer my door the kids costumes are now like a witch, a doctor, and a slut! Kids' shouldn't dress to be "hot" in my humble opinion.
