Campaign, Firefight, and Mythic Maps review.

Ok, so I recently picked up a copy of the new Halo 3: ODST and I would like to share my thoughts and Ideals on the game. First of all I want to talk about the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. As we all know the Halo series has always been known for the Masterchief and his super hero legacy trying to save Earth from the covenant. This game on the other hand is a step back from masterchief legacy and a step into the lighter side of Halo. Now instead of being a supercharged fighting machine you have taken on the roll of highly-trained marine sent in as the last effort to save a major city under the control of the covenant. Of course though it wouldnt be Halo without a twist. You and your other ODST soldiers are dropped from far above right dead-smack into the city of New Mombasa. Everything could have went fine but unfortunately your "Drop" didnt go as planned. Your drop shock capsule gets hit by something on the fall and so hard that you black out before you hit the ground. Lucky for the games continuency you wake up shortly after. After waking up you realize that you have no idea where you are and your stranded alone with none of your fellow ODST to be seen. What will you ever do! The mystery begins, you must galantly search the city by yourself for any type of clues to what happened. Where did your ODST team go?And what on Earth happened to them? All you know is you gotta make your way outta there. Be careful though, as an ODST you are not as strong and capable as masterchief. You must play the roll of a more tactical and careful fighter if you wish to survive. Let the mystery begin! I think this campaign is a great addition to the Halo series as some people might be getting bored of the same old Masterchief as it gives you a completely new vantage point to the game.  I give campaign a 9 out of 10

Now for some Firefight. Firefight is a completely new way to play the game. It is multi-player like anything and you work as a team to fight off the phases of covenant that will soon storm your surroundings. On the levels I have personally played you have very limited supplys. You must use your ammo and vehicles wisely if you wish to make it very far. It takes on a roll somewhat of the Zombies type game from Call of Duty. Now this is a controversial type of gamplay for the halo community. Some people got sucked to Call of Duty when it started to get big and alot of people lost interest in Halo 3. To these people this might be a halo miracle! Personally I have never got to big into COD. I have been very dedicated to the halo series over the years and I think the Firefight game mode yet was probably a excellent business venture as to get some of the lost community back to Halo. I dont entirely care for it. Sorry if you disagree, but I will explain. In any Halo game, I want to fight, advance, and see what is to come and where else I can go. Firefight is simply a sit back grab some weapons and we are gonna see how many NPC's we can throw at you before you keel over and die. There is never any, "I wonder whats coming next?!". I can't find that enthusiasm from firefight but I do believe it was a smart addition. I give Firefight a 6 out of 10

Mythic Maps: Longshore, Citadel, and Heretic. First of all I would like to say congratulations Bungie I honestly believe you have finally brought some maps to the game that people are going to want to play. Longshore is a waterside map thats almost like an old shipyard pier, if you will. There are two sides to the map with a connecting road, garage, and an underground level that stretches out almost under the whole map. There is also an upstairs area to the garage that has a weird looking bridge that stretches out what seems to be only halfway across. A good view-point from above but seems like a useless bridge. All and all seems like a fun map to play with and I cant wait till all my friends get on to run some custom games. Citadel now looks like almost like a 2 level construct without the lifts. Alot more open and wide I think with the same middle platform hosting the rockets. I have only a few problems with this map. I think it is gonna be a disappointing team map. There is clearly two sides to the map but I have played a few times where spawns just seemed to be everyway. On the other hand, I do like the layout on this map, I think it is a good contribution and will be a big hit for FFA games. This brings me to Heretic. Coming from one of the most sought after maps in Halo 2, Midship. This remake is exactly what Halo 3 needed to keep the community begging for more. Heretic is basically identical to old midship with some better graphics and a few new looks here and there. It brings back alot of the good ol' times we all used to have playing Halo 2. Definately gonna be a big hit for any gametype and any player I think.  I give the NEW Mythic Maps a 9.5 out of 10

Well thats about it for my review on Halo 3: ODST. I would just like to thank Bungie for continually updating there stuff. You know we always can't wait to see what you come up with next and also would like to thank all my readers. Please feel free to leave comments on any subject and I will see you next time everybody! :)
