Hammock Buyers Guide

A hammock is a really cool thing to have around your home or to take away with you. You can get all sorts of hammocks so depending on where you are going to put it and what you want it for you should have no trouble finding one that suits your needs. The most common view of a hammock is one strung between two trees but they don’t have to be that way. This hub has more information about hammocks as well as some great hammocks to choose from.

Types of Hammocks

The rope version of a hammock is the most common type. With a rope hammock you have no fabric base but rather rope or nylon. The ropes wrap around you when you lay down. Try not to get the ropes wet as they have a tendency to grow mildew and mold if they get wet. You will not find rope hammocks that stable as the ropes can bunch up quickly reducing the surface area making it harder to balance.

In terms of popularity the most popular hammocks are fabric ones. The hammock has a fabric base and the swings are made entirely of fabric with rope on the ends for fastening. With a fabric base the person has a wider area to lay on. This means you have less chance of falling off when getting in and out. The most common fabric types are quilted hammocks and Brazilian hammocks, You will find quilted hammocks are thicker they provide a more comfortable padding to lay on. Because some quilts usually have some air in between the layers, you will find that the quilt itself stays cool on a hot summer day. A quilted swings hammock also tends to be more durable. If buying a hammock for a child then quilted hammocks are the best.

A Brazilian hammock are made by weaving certain cotton fibres that tend to be thicker than other types of hammocks. You will find that a Brazilian hammock wraps itself around your body whereas other hammocks you usually just rest on the top of the fabric. If you are looking to hang a hammock between two tress then go with a Brazilian hammock. They also work well in colder weather since when you lay in a Brazilian, your body is mostly covered by the fabric keeping the wind from hitting it.
