Hamsters:

Most people wonder what pet to keep for babies of 5-10 years old. You have so many choices - hamsters, mice, rats, cats, dogs, fish, frogs, rabbit. Children love all animals. Hamsters are my choice when it comes to pets for kids. Even adults like us love hamsters. Isn’t it?

Hamsters belong to the rodent family. There are many different species of hamsters but only a few hamster species are widely kept as pets. Syrian hamster and Dwarf hamsters are great pets. Baby hamsters may be the cutest animals in the world. They will play around, dance, fight and run. All this will make your child laugh and laugh and laugh and you will feel happy with a BIG smile on your face.

Pay attention while buying a hamster. Avoid hamsters that are quiet or lethargic. Choose the ones that are alert, curious, and active.

I love the little critters! My cats do, too, so I decided not to have hamsters for the time being. My daughter wants a ferret. She also wants a tiger, but I told her a ferret was enough for her to take care of! LOL!!! Great hub!

Hi Chef ! Thank you for your comments. I can just imagine how BIG you must have LAUGHED when your daughter asked for a PET TIGER. Even I cannot control my laugh at this moment on this thought. You have also given me a Topic for my new hub - ferret. As far as I understand at the moment, people Domesticate ferret for hunting rats and rabbits. I have also learnt that ferret are nearly extinct species and it would not be a good idea to pet them.Have Fun and Love to your Little Daughter.!!

i love hamsters! i have one. (its a girl) And my sister has one too. (its a boy) and if you want to breed your hamsters and you havent bred them yet then, leave them in the cage and run out the room because it is SOOOOOOOOOOO gross to see them breeding, so use my tip, oh and NEVER seperate them before 1 hour because they can get REALLY mad. (belive me it happend to me last night.) Well thats all i got to say. Oh, and dont let syrian hamsters breed for 1 hour belive me they fight after 15 min., so only keep them in for 15 min. Ok bye!
