Fireworks in Japan

In Japan, every summer, there are a great many firework festivals all over the country. The point of these festivals is to eat, drink and be merry with your neighbors and celebrate something or other (I have no idea what really). The festivals are fun and great, but sometimes you want to play in your own backyard, and that's what Hanabi Packs are for!

Hanabi Packs

In the local grocery or convenience store you can find Hanabi packages of various types of legal fireworks. Usually this includes noise makers, pop rocks, sparklers, sparklers, and oh, more sparklers.

Little kids in Japan are pretty much restricted to sparklers and that's safe enough. A lot of packaging is targeted to children and are usually safe. I can think of no incident in the news since I moved to Japan where a child got injuried while playing with fireworks in his or her own backyard. Definately not like in the states where every summer some doofus blows his fingers off with a bottle rocket.

The festivals in Japan are quite fun but the firework shows themselves are music-less (which is boring!). So what I've done is gotten the fireworks bucket and gone to the park in the middle of the night and lit a bunch of sparklers with friends.

Either way, here is my hub mob product for Summer! =)

I like this. I always had a great interest in Japanese culture, I even learnt a few words to get me by, so it is great to read about Japan.
