Handcrafted Sterling Silver Jewelry Designs by C.S. Alexis
67Making Jewelry At Adrift Art Studio
I do not have everything just as I want it to be. Yet, I have made enough progress with my pushing nature to be producing some nice handcrafted jewelry at Adrift Art Studio. I 've been working on pieces for spring and summer and am very pleased with some of the designs I have come up with. All of the work I am creating right now is one of a kind. I like to do things this way. It takes a little longer from start to finish but the final design is usually worth the extra time spent. My most recent works are showing sterling silver and mixing it up with other jewelry making medias. I am having fun and that is the route I am ready to roll on. I love this work and am feeling excited to share some of my newest designs.

A Creative Force In Progress
The economy is soft but I have not let that stop me from pushing forward. I need money to make my art studio grow. So I take on whatever work I can find. I babysat the lucky lady in the adjoining photo for ten days. The extra income is added to the pot that helps to grow my art studio. It all adds up. Ms. Lizzie was forced to lay watching my work unfold as I bent and twisted wires, spilled beads on the floor and swilled cups of coffee in pursuit of another finished piece.
I work and I work, seemingly driven by an unknown force. Sometimes I feel obsessed with it. I walk away in frustration only to return a few minutes later without realizing I am at it again. It makes me hard to live with I suppose. My friends and family do not understand the force behind my motivation. I really can't help it. That is the honest truth. It feels like there is something living inside of my creative being. It is as if I have to work to develop. If I do not work i will never get it out and I must get it out. Whatever the hell it is.
I am never really satisfied with my creations. That is not to say that I do not believe the jewelry I am producing is good. I know that some of it is. It is just that I feel like the next time I will do better. In many ways it is a lot like fishing.
Over and over I keep putting that fishing line out in the water. Sometimes I catch a fish, sometimes I do not. The next one could be the best one. If it is, well....I can try again and maybe I will do better. I am caught in this never ending cycle, my handcrafted jewelry is always A Creative Force In Progress.

Designing Outside Of The Rules
I am not one to stick to rules and regulations in any form of creative expression. I like to bend things 'til they break, push until I see the edges caving in, jump as far as I can, always reaching. Put me on a path and I will follow along until I get bored and then I start making my own path.
Something gets in my way, well, I like to think I will go around it, over it or just go right on through it.
My Mom says I am stubborn. She is probably right but I will never admit that to her. Handcrafting jewelry is one of the best forms of creative expression I know. It suits my nature to a T. The three dimensional aspects of this art form as much as the media and the motion are all the perfect elements to keep me from getting bored. I have a tendency to get bored too easily. Some might call it attention deficit. I call it curiosity. That is why I like mixing the medias up so much. It goes against the grain. My way of bending the rules and regulations a tad!
I started using some not so precious materials like hemp with some costly materials like sterling silver and what a fun time I am having. The necklace I put together in the photo below turned out nice. It is using colors that will be seen in all areas of fashion this season. Bright blue and nature hemp combine to bring the sensation of water, simple knots and turtles adorn this piece, and the flow of the cords adds to the feeling of waves in motion. This one came together just right and I am pleased to show it here on HubPages.
I hope you enjoyed my sterling silver and mixed media review. it would be great to see some comments and critiques in the comment section below. I need to know what everyone thinks. Helps me keep a level thought process for future jewelry designs so send me some honest feedback.

Beautiful pieces! I am so ready to start working on jewelry again. Thanks for this pep talk - your dedication inspires me - and I like that you are using hemp too.
C.C. Riter,
Physical limitations are my reason for pushing the art work so hard. My spiritual housing is not what it use to be and my need for a change in careers is a driving inspiration. I welcome all traffic and comments and enjoy the feedback. Thanks!
Bk Creative,
I love it when I can reach out and motivate others to indulge in their own creative adventure. Please share your works with us in the future too. Thanks for reading here.
I love your piece and share your drive to create. I have been writing in one form or another since I was a child. We used typewriters instead of computers and I could not wait to sit in front of the typewriter to see what would come out...Thanks for a great hub! Your jewelry is wonderful, too!
Beautiful and unique jewelry. I think your pieces will sell very well.
Smireles....I remember my Father had one of those old Underwood's. I use to bang the hell out of it but I wasn't typing. I was just pounding the keys to see if the paper would get the letter CUT into it. I never learned to type, much to my Mother's dismay. I vowed I would never be a secretary and serve coffee to my boss. HA! Funny thought when I consider that now.
I have always made my own way and that has always served me. My Mother always wanted me to write because she said I was a natural story teller. I don't know about that but, I do love to write. Thanks for reading my hub and sharing your thoughts.
SweetiPie.....I sure hope you think right. Thanks for the compliments.
Very lovely work...cutting edge, mixing the medias like that. I work with 14k r.gold and s.silver wire...so much fun! I never really know how the piece will turn out. I also feel that my next piece will be better than the last...I think that is just the creative artist or perfectionist maybe?
I love the simplicity of the s.silver bracelet, very clean, classic! You obviously have more patience than I do LOL...also enjoy the vibrant colours of swarovski crystals...but then I love gemstones, sparklies and pretties of almost every colour.
If you have a moment, I invite you to check out my website, (I have posted a link on my profile page) as I have a few pictures of some of my creations...also is a decent place if you decide to sell online ;)
Enelle,
I checked out your site earlier. I did not have time to engage in further review of the site itself. I was and am interested in what you are doing but right now am pressed for time. I am in the middle of setting up some other writing propositions and it is going to shackle me for the next week.
I think perfectionist fits our personality description better since you mentioned it. LOL Would enjoy further mind picking from an artist's perspective when I am not so pressed. Good to meet you, look forward to more interaction, best regards.
Well I am hoping for you these sell anyway because these are good. One thing I do know for sure is you are better at selling things than I am, but I have not even fathomed being to that point yet at all.
SweetiePie,
What I do know is that it will not sell unless you put it out there and put a for sale sign on it. I am not so sure that You are right about who is the better sales woman. Just take a look at what you have done with your writing! You will find the answer in your statistics.
Love the pictures, C.S. You really make some nice stuff.
I liked this Hub so much that I "Dugg" it and "delicio.us"-ed it.
Big Thank you sisterkate! I was going to do that but now you have saved me the work. Thumbs up to you.
Just as you wrote, I like to mix things up too. And although I prefer adorning my body with bulky, the one of a kind bracelet above looks like an interesting peice with all the circles dangling from it.
But ya know how we women like to touch it before we make use of it?
Nice work.
and you are referring to touching the bracelet before the use or was that some other thingy? Sure happy to have all comments! newsworthy, nice of you to drop in and comment, I will have to check out your profile as I do not remember ever seeing your name.
hi CS, ya know, try it on, look at for a minute, turn, smile and then buy. :)
Sweet! Been looking for better ideas to do more beaded jewery! I really love the last pics, those look sort of like cute turtle shells.

I fully understand tha force within that drives you to do what you just have to do. i have it also, but sometimes my heart problems tell me that i must take cre of it now, or it will send a message to my debibrilator and shock some sense into me to rest. I hate it, that's one boundary I cannot cross, one shackle that can not ever be removed.
I love your jewelry, hmmm. Must see if i can send some traffic your way with dollars to spend.
