Harley Davidson Shuts Down Buell.
It was announced that Harley Davidson suffered a whopping 84% drop in profits. Harley is now forced to shut down Buell. For those of us that are in the industry or motorcycle enthusiast this is not good. No one wants to see a business fold up. The number one thing that is troubling is that there will be people out of work. I know that those that ride Buells love their motorcycles and this will be a blow for them.
"SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)-- Harley-Davidson Inc. shares shrugged off early declines Thursday after the motorcycle giant reported a steep drop in third-quarter profit and said it will cut its Buell and MV Agusta brands."
The first Buell motorcycle was the RW 750 and was built in 1983 purely for racing. In 1993 it incorporated with Harley Davidson with Buell becoming the minority stakeholder at 48%. In 1998 Harley took the majority of the control and from then on it was history until October 15, 2009 when it was announced that Buell was being shut down.
