Have you ever had a NDE near death experience ?

It was in 1998 when, I think, I had near-death-experience. The reason was due to severe dehydration because of diarrhea almost every 15 minutes for about 3 hours. The cause of the diarrhea was amoebiasis. Because of the severe dehydration, I was having cramps all over my body. When I was rushed to the emergency room of the hospital I could hardly stand or move by myself. My voice was just a whisper by then. Stomach pain was almost unbearable. They put dextrose on me while waiting for my turn to be examined. It seemed too awfully long before I was checked up and wheeled to a ward while waiting for a private room to be available.

It was at the ward when things became worse. Hospital services are so terrible that there were even no nurses to attend to me. I can not recall the length of time I was in the ward and had to go several times to the toilet because of diarhea. By that time, two dextrose bottles have been infused. Still suffering from cramps, I had to carry the stands of the bottles to the toilet each time. The point came when I was too weak to get up from bed and go to the toilet. The last time I tried, the dextrose tubes got yanked out of my arms. Blood was squirting all around me. Had it not been for other kind souls in the ward, I might not be typing in this article. It was only then that doctors and nurses came to attend to me.

I was so weak and could hardly talk but the thought of dying never entered my mind. The last thing I recall was when a surgeon asked me if I was willing to have a "cut down" because they could not find my veins for infusion. He said my blood pressure of 60/40 was too low and that was the reason. Before I passed out or went unconscious, my wife was asked to sign a document for consent on the "cut down". I don't know how long the procedure went and nobody told me. All my wife told me was I looked so old and my face looked like just bone and skin. My eyes were deep in their sockets. No, I did not see any bright lights or a tunnel or a feeling of separation from my body. What I remember only was first feeling myself being wheeled on a corridor to a private room. My eyes opened slowly, I don't know why I just couldn't open them normally. Some people who heard my story say it was not a near death experience. Others say it is and say that I did not experience what others may have in their near death because I never thought of dying.

N.B. Cut down is the term for a surgeon who makes an incision to find a large vein where dextrose or blood could be infused. It was done on the inside part of my upper right arm.

I've never heard of this condition before, amoebiasis, but it sounds dreadful, as anyone who has had diarrhea before would think... imagine it being constant! The hospital sounded rather under par :(

Thanks glassvisage! Amoebiasis, if mild, is easily treated. If severe, it can even go to the brain. The amoeba sort of eats away the stomach and intestinal flora in severe cases it also leads to intestinal bleeding.
