Having a family game night is always fun, but you do not need to go out and buy some board games to have some fun.  Instead you can use Dice.

Dice are great because everyone has them.  I’ll bet you have a ton of dice somewhere around the house.  That could save you a trip to the store to buy some new games.  If you already have board games, playing dice games instead can be a great way to mix things up and try something different.

And there are some pretty fun games out there.  Many games are way more creative then, let’s see who can roll the highest number.  Games like high roller and Zilch are very fun and have more thought out rules.

Out of all the dice games I’ve played I would have to say Zilch is my favorite, I hear it is also called zip.  It is a game where you roll 6 dice and get points based on what you roll.   For instance if you roll 3 5s you get 500 points because 3 of any number gets you that number multiplies by a hundred.

Getting a 1 by itself gives you 100 points and getting a 5 by itself gets you 50 points.  Also using up all the dice lets you roll all 6 dice again.  There are also some other rules too.

The thing I like about this game is that you can keep rolling as long as you have dice left.  So you will see many different personalities.  You will find aggressive players who will just keep rolling, and you will find conservative players who keep their points once they have reached the minimum they can keep.  Just remember if you roll a zilch or nothing all of the points you have gotten for that round go out the window.

Your goal with this game isn’t to win every roll, but to have the highest amount of points at the end of the game.
