• Are there adequate employees on hand to handle large crowds and give direction?
• Do the employees have radio communication sets to communicate with when away from the farm base?
• Are there clear rules for guests to follow when on the hayride premises?
• Does the hayride service have an EMT on staff with first-responder equipment and defibrillator?
• Is there adequate lighting in the parking lot and around the loading area?
• Do employees ride with your group to supervise the hayride (in the ride bed - not just driving the tractor)
• Is there a cancellation policy?
• Is there a dress code your party should know about? (Shoes, costumes, etc.)

Find our prior to your hayride party if there are specific rules for the hayride such as the following list from a hayride facility that I know of:

1. Do not smoke in or around the wagons
2. No lighters or matches
3. No Flashlights
4. No cameras or camcorders
5. Laser pointers will be confiscated
6. Keep arms and legs in the wagon at all times
7. Do not touch the actors or props
8. Do not throw straw
9. No food or drink allowed on wagons
10. No alcohol allowed
