Remember when you first met?

*You were so nervous and unsure of yourself!

*Every day was filled with discovery as you learned new things about each other.

*The getaways, restaurants, long talks and private jokes!

*There wasn't anything you didn't like. The way they walked, spoke, laughed and were so interesting and clever!

*Every word, every experience was magic!

Then one day you realize that discovery has turned into routine.

*Somewhere along the way magic became reality.

*All of the things you once adored are now mundane or irritating.

*Instead of laughing you crying over petty things.

*Instead of listening you are criticizing.

*Instead of understanding and encouraging words, you yell or ignore each other.

*Instead of holding hands, you turn your back and walk away.

*Instead of trying to diffuse a bad situation, you give up.

What Happened To Us?

Healing A Relationship

How could something so right turn out so wrong?

We had so much fun together, shared the same interests and now it feels like we have nothing in common. We would spend hours planning the future. What happened to all of those hopes and dreams? The relationship that started out so right is now filled with hurt feelings and broken promises.

Have you ever trusted someone to love you when they were incapable of showing love?

Have you ever loved someone that was incapable of receiving your love?

Have you ever had someone you love cheat on you?

Trust is such a difficult thing to build, and easily broken. It only takes a moment of rejection to destroy a lifetime of trust.

The pain that occurs from being hurt by someone you trust can be unbearable.

You have opened your heart to them and are totally vulnerable. When rejected the natural tendency is to close your heart to prevent further pain.

The pain that results from rejection creates a large wound that must be healed in order for trust to be regained. Lost trust makes it difficult to forgive, and creates a void between two people.

Many people become stuck in time and can not move ahead in their lives. They become desperate to be set free from the painful past memories.

One way people deal with pain is to just forget what happened and block out thoughts of the person who hurt them.

It may be possible to temporarily forget things that happened, but if healing does not occur, the pain will not go away.

Pain that lingers from the past keeps you tied to the past.

Another way many people deal with pain is to pretend it really isn't there.

Pain is like a shadow. It won't go away regardless of how fast you run. That is why pain must be faced and dealt with. Instead of running from pain, stop and face it. Pain must be faced and dealt with for healing to occur.

As difficult as it may be, have you considered picking upĀ  where you left off and commit to making your relationship work? You have invested a lot of time and energy in this relationship. Is it worth the effort to forgive and try again? Why not try to rekindle the love, forgive and start over.

Rekindle Lost Love

There was a time when you could not wait to see each other.

You would talk on the phone for hours.

Daydream about the weekend getaway you have planned.

Share private jokes and memories.

Talk endlessly about the future.

Finish each others sentences.

You could almost read each others mind!

Wouldn't it be nice to rekindle the affection and adventure you experienced when your relationship first began?

Rather then throwing away years of commitment, why not try the magic-of-making-up?
