Vitamin E

The Family of E

I will be the first to admit that I am guilty for thinking vitamin E is just one vitamin. This vitamin actually belongs to a group of eight different, let's call them associates . Vitamin E Is just a common name or you could say generic for lack of a better word that represents the whole group.

To keep it simple and not confuse anyone the major two compounds of vitamin E are:

1. Tocopherols

2. Tocotrienols

Both contain four ingredients with identical names

1.) alpha, beta, gamma, delta

2.) alpha, beta, gamma, delta

This makes up the first eight associates or family related vitamin E properties.

The 9th Element

There is also a 9th vitamin E which is new to the community, this is alpha-tocomonoenol this vitamin e is associated and located in fish eggs.

Vitamin E supplements realistically consist of all eight associated plus alpha-tocopherol (alpha-tocopherol is the best nutritional supply of E for our bodies).

Alpha-Tocopherol is the most potent form of E, and found in foods such as; raw nuts, soybean and asparagus. This form of vitamin E is essentially what is found in our diets.
