Government health care and the nuclear option

Government Health Care and the use of the “nuclear option” to get it passed

Let me be very clear, NO GOVERNMENT OPTION!  NO TRIGGER OPTION!  NO PUBLIC  CO-OPS and NO NUCLEAR OPTION!

Let me be crystal clear, if the Senate uses the unprecedented “nuclear Option” (aka. Reconciliation) they will forever change the way the Senate is constitutionally designed to work and has worked to this moment in our history.

To all Senators:

Let’s fast forward to the next President.  Envision a Republican President and Senate.  Now imagine the Supreme Court is still divided five conservative judges and four liberal and the Republican President nominates an ultra conservative judge who is unabashedly Pro Life.  One that is on record as supporting the judicial reversal of Roe vs. Wade…  If the reconciliation option has already been used by the opposition party, why would you think a Republican President, with a willing Republican Senate, wouldn’t simply use the precedent already set by the Democratic Party and use it to force an ULTRA conservative judge onto the court with the ultimate desire of overturning Roe V Wade.   Think about it long and hard sir before you let your party ram a nationalized healthcare plan down an unwilling America, by using the reconciliation option.  You might also recall that there was a lot of talk of the nuclear option when the last conservative judge (Alito) for the court was being considered by a Republican controlled Senate and White House.  Fortunately for all of us, the party in power thought better of using reconciliation for such a monumental decision.  Are you willing to set a precedent that will make it so much easier for future battles on issues that you may not be so supportive of?  If you open the proverbial reconciliation bottle, and let the genie out, your  party will pay a dear price in the future.  It could very well have the unintended consequence of putting a death nail into one of the Democratic Party’s sacred cows.  Think about it very hard and very long!  Reconciliation is NOT the avenue for a health care plan but it will be the avenue a new career for any senator willing to sign up for the nuclear option, and quite possibly the death of the religion known as Abortion!

Forcing something on the American people they do not want will ultimately prove to be a very bad political move for the Democratic Party.  You will pay dearly for forcing this down our collective throats.    The vast majority of Americans are happy with the health care plan we currently have; I would be one of them.  I don’t have a “Cadillac plan”, but a solid plan to protect me and my family against financial ruin from a catastrophic health issue.  We (You, The Congress and the President) need to fix what is wrong.  The entire health care system DOES NOT has to be smashed and put back together in the process.  There are fundamental things that could be changed to strengthen our health system, many of which can and should be done.  Completely dismantling what is working just doesn’t make sense.
