Health-Care everyone needs it everyone deserves it

The current debate over universal health-care is really hotting up politically for the United States. President Barack Obama and those on Capital Hill this week continue to debate what seems an endless debate why cannot everybody get quality healthcare. Not only for the reformers but for those lobby industries that would like the status quo to remain. President Obama is likely to introduce a health-care reform bill this week as well as give televised Presidential address to the nation.
At stake is th some 54 million Americans who current do not have health-care. a result of not having health insurance they are at the mercy of doctors and hospital when getting treated. any hospital will just not treat patients unless they have insurance or can come up with the cash prior to treatment. the fallout from lack of insurance is that many people just die because they are unable to afford to pay for health-care. Many mortgage their home to pay for an operation which can cost up to a million dollars depending on the type.
It will be in every one's interest that all Americans get cover for health treatment. This includes the President himself. Why Obama's whole presidential term of office and his success as a politician will probably hinge on the success or otherwise of this proposed health-care bill. Will it be watered down to the point where still many millions of Americans remain without health-care. Let's hope not...

So your saying all emergency patients are treated by all American Hospitals that have an Emergency Department ?
It's the law here sir-Not surprised at the myth being propagated, much like many of the NHS myths being spread over here. This is a debate that is long overdue in the USA and has many aspects to it that are not well understood by folks that haven't both lived the 'dream' and the 'nightmare' of our system, never the less we (USA) are still the country of choice for those seeking both political and economic freedom and cancer treatment. Lot said in that.... You might want to check out my series of hubs on the subjects. Thanks my friend..
I understand it is the law. & although I appreciate respect you dont need to call me Sir. I have seen documentaries both Australian and United States one showing emerbgency patients not getting treatment because they did notr have private emdical insurance. Tell me that I am wrong ! Yes ?
Sorry Barry it's (sir) is a habit of respect, I'm not sure what documentaries you have seen or how recently they were filmed but this problem came to national attention it the US back in the 80's and laws were passed requiring EMS personnel to transport patients to the nearest Emergency room with appropriate care, and hospitals to take the patients.
The legend of it lives on. Like I said this country can be both a dream and a nightmare depending on the day, and sometimes both on the same day.
Much like when I was overseas in the Army and someone would ask me where I was from, when I replied Chicago the first words inevitably out of their mouths were "OH Gangster Al Capone!" Now this was in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and in the last five years as well. Al Capone has been dead since the mid 30's, but the legend lives on.
I would just suggest you try to weed out some of the chaff so a grain of truth or two comes through. By the way much of what I opine on this is rooted from information I have received from family that works in the health care industry here all of whom are opposed to the plan set forth in HR3200 (and I come from a large family).
We know we need change but we need to do it our way. Thank you and God Bless..
Barry, Hmr is absolutely correct. It is a law here in the United States, no one can be turned away from an emergency room simply for not having health care insurance. Don't believe everything you see on T.V.
Secondly - you also have your stats way wrong regarding the "uninsured." When the numbers that the Democrats came up with initially attempting to prove the urgent need for their particular reform of healthcare - it turned out - that the Democrats included millions and millions of ILLEGAL aliens in that statistical number. Then it was revealed that they were also including the very, very wealthy who CHOSE not to have health insurance by opting out and paying cash. THEN it was discovered that bloated numbers also included the very young working individuals who also chose no health insurance for reasons of "invincibility" as in - they were young, healthy, they didn't need it. The ACTUAL number is much closer to 15 million. Even the Democrats have lowered their number because it was just so ludicrous they kept hyping the way over inflated one.
Lastly - our Constitution does not state ANYWHERE that OTHERS in the U.S. MUST pay out of their own pockets for someone elses's health care. We already do that with Medicare and Medicaid - both socialized health insurance run by the government and going bankrupt. One of the reasons it is broke is because of the tremendous fraud, waste and abuse of this system. Government control of our nation's health care is NOT the answer.
There are solutions for those legitimate numbers of people who truly need health care and can't afford it.
Tort reform.
Opening up medical insurance nationally - instead of forcing me to choose only within my own state or region. Opening up the options of healthcare nationally will cause much more competition and ultimately bring the cost down so many more can afford it.
Police the fraud, waste and abuse - which comes to BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR. If they could tighten up all the waste and abuse of the current social healthcare programs they'd have enough money for even the ILLEGAL aliens to have free health care.
Most Americans aren't against their poor countrymen/women who can't afford health care from having it. It is the fact that the government can't run ANYTHING without spending obscene amounts of taxpayer money, running things badly and inefficiently. Amtrak, the United States Postal Service, Medicare Medicaid, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac etc. -- all government run -- all totally messed up, run so horribly they are jokes, not only in the red, but close to total bankruptcy.
Fix what we have and PLENTY of money would be available to help those who TRULY need it AND to give back taxpayer money that was taken wrongly from them in the first place!

Sir You do not appear to be well read on this issue as health care is available to all who need it through the American Hospitals who by law must treat any in need who show up.
The debate at hand is weather or not the government is the best institution to provide health insurance, I would contend that for the US it is not. It may be for other countries but not for mine thank you.
