With the technology we live in today everything is at our finger tips yes even getting health insurance. We can type in a little bit of information and with in minutes we can have a quote and a plan laid out for our family. Now for a lot of people it use to be you would call around and find some one you like from over the phone and then they would come out with all there information and a ton of paper work and o yea then a nurse would come to your house and take your blood just to make sure that you told the truth once all the results came back from the lab, and maybe with in a few week’s to a month you would here something. Now I no I am not the smartest guy in the world and maybe not the sharpest tool in the tool box but is it really necessary to use all the lingo that insurance companies use. I guess its important in some aspect but let me try and break it down a little simpler here for you. “Traditional Health Insurance” you pretty much go to what ever doctor you want and get the type of coverage you want. “Short-Term Medical Insurance” this is pretty much a short period of six months and can be really expensive, a lot of company offer this if a employee is laid off which is also know as Cobra. “Deductible” is what you pay for up front and once you reach your deductible then the coverage kicks in, I wish I would of understood that one better when I was looking it really came back to bit me many years ago. “Benefits” these are medically necessary supplies like eye care and things of that nature. “Premium” it’s what you pay either monthly or quarterly to have coverage. This will change every year and sometimes it can be very expensive year to year with the way things have been going. “Emergency” now I am pretty sure we all understand what demands an emergency but keep in mind it has to of happen within the last 24 hours to be called an emergency. If you show up in the emergency room a week latter after your car crash then it must of not been an emergency and you will pay more. Health is something that know one wants to mess around with and its defiantly not something you want to avoid so make sure you do a little research and right down as many question as you can think of and search the internet. So I was watching meet the press today and heard that the bill the President was pushing got passed. I am a little concerned about some small business in my communities that have a few employees and they don’t offer health insurance for the simple fact they can not afford it. What the business makes now is just enough to pay the overhead and keep the doors open, if they had to start paying for Health Coverage even for a few employees it may mean the difference of staying in business and struggling or just closing the doors. This is a hard reality that we face today, I am just venting but I truly hope this new bill has these types of business in mind. There are a lot of small town’s still here in this fine Country we call home and it would be a shame to see a lot of them lock up and call it quits. I just needed to vent a little about that, not sure how its all going to play out but you can bet I will be watching it for sure.
