Health Insurance seems to be important in this day in age. So many people go with insurance as well.  2.4 million workers have lost their health benefits from their employers.  I myself have seen the cost cuts employers have done.  Where I work they cut our pay by 4 dollars and well I don't get health insurance either.  As of June 22, 2009 16.6 % of adults are uninsured.  In 2006 a census was takien and over 47 million americans go without health insurance.  That is a very high number to have people not being cared for. 

Now there are programs that help families in poverty with health care but that is only for children unless you are a pregnant woman or have some type of disability that you can not work or something like that.  That is what the government calls medicaid.  I am not sure how this new health refore will help some but others seem to like it. 

It seems that Barack Obama is really into passing this health reform.  Is this a way for the government to control us more or do they really care about us this time?  So many people in our world believe that our government is trying to control us more than we think.  Here are the top 5 health care lies acording to Moveon.org (just click on the highlight name to get results). The concept of health insurance was proposed in 1694 by Hugh the Elder Chamberlen from the Peter Chamberlen family. There were two brothers of this family. Sons of William Chamberlen. Most famous for inventing the modern use of obstetrical forceps. Which has been a family secret for over a century. Peter the elder was a surgeon and obstetrician to Queen Anne. So not only a doctor in his time it is because of Peter Chamberlen the elder that came up with health insurance.
