Broccoli is a member of the cruciferous family, which includes kale, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts, this cruciferous family can help protect the body against cancer.

Broccoli contain a substance called Sulforaphane, this substance was shown to dramatically reduce the number, size and the reproduction of malignant tumors, as well as prevent it occurance.

Broccoli is also rich in fiber that can greatly help diabetics. Broccoli has the same calcium content as that of milk and it is also a rich source of Vitamin C and A.

It’s not every day that a person actually reads about a vegetable that is so “common” yet has so many the wonderful health benefits. When I was a child I remember my Mom saying that we should have plenty of green vegetables if we want to grow up healthy. I guess Mom knew something after all! It's always recommended by the dietician to have broccoli at any time of the day be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Broccoli is used as a remedy for high blood pressure mostly because of the vitamin C it contains (even more so than an orange).
