I have a habit of drinking too much soda while at work so I've been taking pine apple juice and mixing it with a little bit of sprite and it satisfies the craving for carbonated soda, is a lot healthier and tastes great

Pineapple supposedly calms children down, it is especially recommended for hyperactive children, such as those with ADHD. Does anyone know the specifics as to why?

Does the pinapple have to be fresh or can you use canned? I am wondering this because I know fresh pinapple is a bit differnt as you can not use it with jello, it will not set. But canned can be used so something must be missing in the canned pinapple.

I make my own sports drink like gatorade with pineapple juice. I dilute it by about 40%, add enough sea salt to get levels to about 200mg per 8oz. serving, and while pineapple already has high potassium in it I add NoSalt substitute to increase those levels as I am a heavy sweater during exercise. I also add a little sucrose and honey to optimize the carbohydrate blend. I have to say it tastes great, is cheaper than store bought sports drinks, better for me, and out performs anything else I've tried.

Pineapple is Loaded with Vitamins and Minerals.

One of the benefits of pineapple is that it helps to build healthy bones. Pineapples are rich in manganese, a trace mineral that is needed for your body to build bone and connective tissues.

I mix pineapple w/ aloe and make a delicious drink in which I drink every morning as soon as I wake up and every night after my work out along with some soy protien. this drink is a natrual way to start cleaning your system. It will make you run to the bathroom the first day of taking it but you'll get used to it on the 2nd or 3rd day.

To Nancy, because there's no reply button. The difference between canned pineapple and fresh pineapple is this. The canned pineapple is not really lacking anything, it's just been exposed to heat, or pasteurized. This heat doesn't destroy the natural enzymes (organic chemical catalysts, or proteins that actually help speed up chemical reactions)But it changes them. Enzymes work in a 'lock and key' sort of way in the sense that it latches on to the chemical it wishes to speed the reaction of, so it has to fit. Heat changes the shape making it less effective, and thus it loses it's power. Canned pineapple still has all of those good nutrients, but it lacks the enzyme configuration fresh pinapple does and that's why canned is able to be used in jello. It won't dissolve it, because the enzymes have lost their chemical changing power. BTW, I am happily munching on fresh pineaple now for breakfast. This stuff is like freakin' candy to me lol

I still find it incredible that there are still people thinking there is one magic fruit to eat that will make you lose weight. They can help, but that is largely due to the fact that they're fruits and thus healthier than going for a bag of lays instead when snack time rolls around. Losing weight is about having a balanced diet, exercising and (wait for it) having enough rest (including sleep).

So no cedar, pineapple won't help you add weight. If you are talking muscle wise, pineapples don't have protein, which helps build and repair muscles. The primary nutrient of fruits is usually carbs. Eating a ton wouldn't be good either since you would only be getting tons of sugar (and some vitamins of course). I recommend meeting with a professional trainer if you're trying to develop muscle mass.
