Healthcare Reform That Works
53True Healthcare Reform: Cope Or Hope? Part 1
An Excerpt from The Fount article Entitled "True Healthcare Reform: Cope Or Hope Part 1"
I recently read an article entitled "Coping With Diabetes" wherein the following was written:
Doctors tell us there is no cure for diabetes.
So it's mandatory that patients keep all appointments and make sure they have a great partnership with their doctors.
Family Physician, Dr. Thomas Williams says, "The thing is if you're ever diabetic, you're diabetic for life, the disease does not disappear.
At that point, I consider it a managed disease. But we continue to manage this disease for life."
The Louisiana State University's AgCenter ranks Louisiana as the #1 state in the country for the number of deaths associated to diabetes. Louisiana is also rated #8 for obesity.
Considering these factors and the statement quoted above, people must decide if they are satisfied with just coping with diabetes or is there a way to reverse and defeat this disease? We need hope.
According to Wictionary, hope is "the belief or expectation that something wished for can or will happen." In this article, we will discuss both the physical and spiritual aspects of hope as they apply not only to overcoming diabetes, but many other circumstances in life as well.
In this case however, it will do little or no good to begin with the physical aspect of hope because if one’s heart is full of doubt, unbelief can sabotage ALL hope. This material is for Believers and for those who want to believe but don't yet believe because they have no positive vision of the possibilities.
Paradigm Shift
This paradigm of thought, that 'diabetes is incurable and can only be managed but will eventually kill you' - the very acceptance of these words only invokes fear, depression and hopelessness in the life of the hearer. But God made us to be free moral agents. Either one can accept what is said to them and allow those words to become their reality, or one can make the autonomous choice to create a different reality.
Do doctors want us healthy to the point where we hardly ever need them, or would they rather we be chronically ill so that we CONSTANTLY need them? Most doctors have good hearts, but we can't ignore the fact that they are in business to make money off of sick people. But let's deal with that in another article.
Some things cannot be explained by natural or physical means. But if one can believe that "God said, let there be light, and there was light" then it's likely one can begin to understand the fact that WORDS are spiritual seeds that manifest into a physical reality by the supernatural power of God.
Since God created us in His image and in His likeness, whether we believe this, recognize it, accept it or not - the reality we create tomorrow begins with the words we believe in our heart and speak from our own mouth today. As a man thinketh so is he.
Consider our acceptance of the words coming from somebody deemed to be 'above us' because he or she is a learned expert or professional. When they say "you'll have diabetes for the rest of your life" or anything negative that is contrary to the desire of one's heart, people take words like these to heart and those words literally begin to take root and grow into an unwanted reality.
In order for one to experience a different reality than the one being presented to us through WORDS, one must do something different. If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten. And in order to do things differently, one must have a new mindset, a new paradigm: one must develop a new system of thought, belief and learn how to hold images of the thing desired in their mind until their vision becomes reality.
True Healthcare Reform
While President Obama's effort to make sure 50+ million uninsured Americans are provided with adequate health care is indeed noble and his efforts in this regard are greatly appreciated by some and scorned by others, surely we can all come together on this point: the President's INITIAL comments shortly after being sworn in to office about America's need to prevent illness must be focused on by each and every American.
If true healthcare reform is going to take place in this country, it's not going to come from the government and people can't rely on this false hope. No doubt, all uninsured American citizens need coverage, but truth be told nobody really wants to be sick in the first place. But based on the way faith works, if one believes that chronic sickness is the absolute best state ever to be achieved, based on that negative belief that person will most likely always be sick; just coping without hoping.
How does one start this process of hoping instead of just coping? It all begins with dissecting and understanding one's current belief system: the words a person thinks about, the images they hold and mull over in their mind, the belief held in their heart and the words spoken from their own mouth. Life and death is in the power of the tongue, and THIS is how hope is set into motion. Do our beliefs and words line up with fear or faith?
Fear produces a negative outcome while faith produces a positive one. If I believe a negative thing will take place (worry & doubt) it's because the spirit of fear dominates my mind. But if I believe a positive thing will take place no matter how I feel or what anybody else says to the contrary, then I operate by unquenchable faith.
The only one qualified to teach us about faith is the creator of it: God Almighty. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." True healthcare reform in America occurs by renewing one mind at a time through faith in what God can do, not man.
We find no place in scripture where Jesus was ever sick, but we do see "by His stripes we were healed."
There was so much health and life in Jesus that when they whipped Him with a cat of nine tails, as His flesh was ripped open and His perfectly pure blood began to flow, the awesome healing power within His body filled the earth's atmosphere to the point where ALL sickness could be destroyed!
But then of course, the destruction of illness in our bodies only applies to True Believers: for He said "according to your faith be it unto you." Jesus performed many miracles by healing the sick, and He told us we would do even greater works.
These are the reasons why none of us can afford to be resigned to accept chronic illness as a lifestyle. To live such a defeated life is clearly against God's will, especially since He has fully equipped Believers to be MORE than conquerors.
Where Do We See Ourselves?
True Healthcare Reform Begins In A Renewed Mind
Vision
True healthcare reform begins with True Believers, who no longer see themselves as just natural men and women. According to The Bible, we are spirit beings who live in physical bodies and we have a soul. The spirit essence rules the flesh, not the other way around. We are IN Christ, which means we operate in the same anointing that Jesus did while He walked the earth.
If we plant a seed in the ground and take care of it properly, we expect a harvest. But we must have a vision of that harvest in mind (the thing we believe God for) from the very beginning in order to see a supernatural increase.
According to "NOW faith is.." can we plant a seed in our mind by seeing ourselves now in the healthy state that we want to be in later? Can we nurture that seed by repeatedly visualizing and meditating on our desired goal of being completely healthy right now?
Since Jesus said "nothing is impossible to those who believe," we have no business speaking words or thinking on things which are contrary to our desired goal. If we can't 'see' it in our hearts and minds, how can we expect to see it in the natural?
Like planting seeds that become invisible underground, after a while the harvest occurs every single time. If we can SEE ourselves in the totally healthy state we wish to be in, those thoughts and images which are invisible to the outside world become the seeds by which God can produce a supernatural harvest of abundant health in our lives for everybody to see.
This is how God glorifies Himself through our faith, and why we can't please Him without that faith!
The Bible tells us: Without a vision God's people perish, nothing shall be impossible to those who believe, and faith without works is dead. Therefore, take another look at the gold fish in our photo. Would it ever make such a leap if it couldn't see itself in that larger bowl?
Evidently, this fish was not satisfied being contained in a small bowl when a larger bowl was made available. Can we see ourselves in the totally healthy state that we desire? This is the renewed mindset one must have in order to permanently enact healthy lifestyle changes.
Now that this seed of hope has been planted and the spiritual aspect of our healing through faith is beginning to take root, let's examine the physical aspect of work that must accompany our faith in order to overcome diabetes and other dreaded diseases.

Excellent hub my brother. Keep it up and I'll try to lend my voice to yours. You already have my prayers. Love ya lots.
No Body, you blow me away. I appreciate such high praise, but really - it's you and writers like you who have inspired me to take it up a notch.
Your insightful comments here regarding the political forum have been very helpful. I wish this country wasn't so divided over politics, because in actuality I believe the two major sides have more likenesses than differences.
Your prayers are always welcome and appreciated. Much Love To You And Yours As Well. Continue To Be Blessed
TF: I enjoyed reading your hub. I completely understand where you are coming from.
Sometime ago I read an eye-opening article: "Why Americans Will Believe Almost Anything." The author makes this cryptic comment, "...we are the most conditioned, programmed beings the world has ever known. Not only are our thoughts and attitudes continually being shaped and molded; our very awareness of the whole design seems like it is being subtly and inexorably erased."
I like how J.B. Phillips paraphrases Romans 12:2, "Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould." Transformation truly begins with the renewing of our mind. And we have the mind of Christ to thwart the so-called "conventional wisdom of this world" that is scientifically implanted in the public consciousness through the relentless bombardment of media on a daily basis. Your example is telling: "Doctors tell us there is no cure for diabetes. So it's mandatory that patients keep all appointments and make sure they have a great partnership with their doctors."
Keep on writing and challenging your readership to think through these issues. Looking forward to Part 2.
Thank you for sharing Gicky and for the encouragement as well. It's taken me a long time to know what we're working with - I'm talking about discovering the beautiful way God created us and how He gave us dominion over every negative situation that comes our way. You hit the nail on the head my Brother. The benefits are abundant to those who let the mind of Christ be in them. Continue To Be Blessed!

You are a great writer. The politics forum is now a great ministry because the policies of the current administration have everyone sitting up to take notice. But it is not an easy forum because people tend to be so absorbed in the here and now and there is very little interchange. This hub is really good and I will try to learn from you. I love you so much brother. Praise God for you!
