What are some of the healthiest cheese options for people trying to lose weight?
67Cheese benefits
First of all let's look at some cheese health benefits:
Reduce insulin resistance, reduce bone loss, prevent dental cavities and yes Aid weight loss!
Some healthy cheese options:
Grass fed cheese - cheese from grass fed cows has more than five times more CLA than cheese from grain fed cows; CLA has been said to help reduce the chance of diabetes.
Goat cheese - lower in fat and saturated fat with smaller fat molecules that make it easier to digest; possible a good substitute for one that is sensitive to cow's milk.
Swiss cheese - highest in calcium and lowest in sodium; said to reduce dental cavities and contains no lactose (Aged Cheddar also prevents dental cavities and contains no lactose).
Cottage cheese - contains live active cultures of acidophilus and Bifidus bacteria that help with digestion and gastrointestinal health as well as aid immune function.
Obviously with anything moderation is the key. But I say YES to cheese!

Mozzarella cheese is a very good source of protein and calcium. It is also a good source of phosphorus, iodine and selenium. Cottage cheese is not one of my favorites either. I use it with Lasagna or other noodles only. Many will eat it plain or as you mentioned with salads. Have at the mozzarella!
Thanks for the hub! I love cheese and it's the one thing I won't give up when eating healthy. Awesome to have some better alternatives!

Oh thank you for this! Didn't know about the swiss cheese, great! But have you any idea where mozzarella (those white round ones that come in water filled packaging) would be placed among the list you've given? Thanks again!! Oh one last thing- how do you use cottage cheese in your meals? I've only tried it in salads and it looks kind of gross...:(
