Healthy Better-looking Eyes

Our eyes are possibly our most essential organs. With them we have access to our main sensation: sight. Even more important than this, the eyes are the parts of our brains that pass through the skull. So it is critical to keep our eyes healthy and clean.

Generally, it is easy to care for your eyes. Inside the lids, the eyes take care of their own cleaning. Outside the eyelids, warm water and gentle soap are all that is needed to clean off any dirt or accumulation.

Scratching the eye is the most common way to create discomfort and even spread infection, so don't forget to keep fingers and other things far away from your eyes.

When wearing make-up, care should be used in applying anything on or near the eyes, including mascara, powers, shadows, liners, and makeup removal washes. Eye make-up and other products should be replaced frequently to avoid pollution so the eyes are not defenseless to bacteria and other foreign things.

Beautiful, healthy eyes allow us to face the public with certainty and self-confidence.

Puffed Up Lids

A swollen eyelid is not only unappealing. It can also be uncomfortable, and even a sign of serious problems around the eye, too.

Puffy lids are often caused by not enough sleep, too much salt in the diet, and allergic reactions. Also, an illness like mononucleosis ("mono" or "kissing disease") or a condition like hypothyroidism might have swollen eyelids as a symptom or side effect. Holding a chilled cloth near your eyes can give temporary relief, but it won’t remove the cause.

Styes

Bacteria can cause an infection at the base of an eyelash, called a stye. Most often, a little area will become painful, swollen up, and become red. Almost all will clear by themselves, without medicine or long-lasting issue.

Putting On moist warmth to the area can help heal, such as a warm compress. The warmth steps up blood flow, which helps the antibodies to get rid of the infection more quickly.
