It is very hard to actually make kids eat. It will really take a lot to get their attention. Usually kids like fried foods and frozen junk foods that really do not give the nutrition they need.

What you have to learn first is what consists of a healthy meal and then you can create healthy dinner ideas for kids. Here are the elements of a perfectly healthy meal and you can put your own twist to it once you know the basics:

1) Kids usually like eggs and this is healthy option number one for them. You can either cook it boiled, fried or you can put it with soup or rice to give it a more Chinese meal feel.

2) Kids like pasta. You can use whole wheat pasta instead of the normal one since this is the healthier kind. You can use tuna instead of meatballs since kids would still enjoy it as long as they see that it is tomato-based.

3) Vegetables are a must but since kids hate them, you can easily cook chicken then stuff them with veggies inside so the kids would think that it is simply a normal chicken.

4) When you cook, use olive oil, canola oil or sunflower oil. If you must, it will actually be better if you steam or grill your foods. Kids will not notice what oil you cooked the meal with so just do it the healthier way.

5) Kids love milk. Instead of letting them drink the regular kind, why not let them drink the low-fat ones instead? Kids will also love flavored yogurts.

6) Healthy dinner ideas for kids will still include their favorite chicken and meat. But instead of using chicken legs, why not use chicken breasts instead? You can also lessen their intake of chicken skin.

7) When you make your kids sandwiches, you should always put lettuce, tomato and cheese since this will make it a healthier sandwich.

8) If they want chips, give them cheese sticks with dip instead or, you can give them nuts that is unsalted.

9) Always, always make your kids drink water. Freshly squeezed juices will also be good for their health instead of the pre-packed ones.
