Most people believe that healthy eating means boring food and bland flavor. They tend to lose sight of the importance of eating right because they don't want to sacrifice taste for nutrition. Well, healthy eating is more important than most people think, and believe it or not, it can be delicious to boot!

First of all, eating right simply means choosing smarter - not sacrificing the flavors you love. If you have a powerful sweet tooth, try grilled fruit instead of that cupcake. Grilled fruit is an awesome alternative to high calorie and nutritionally void foods. The best part is that it tastes like a gourmet dessert. Even if you top it with a little chocolate, you're still reaping the health benefits. Remember, dessert doesn't always have to be bad for you.

If you love your red meat, choose leaner cuts. Try grilling instead of frying. Sauté food in olive oil instead of butter. Eat seven-grain bread instead of white. When ordering a side, choose a salad instead of a loaded baked potato. Switch to skim milk. Try shopping a local farmer's market for fresh fruits and vegetables and more organic seasonings. Skip the chips and go for dried fruit. Try flavored fizzy water instead of soda.

If you're willing to incorporate change in your habits, you'll be eating healthy in no time and you'll never miss out on a thing. You don't have to avoid the Greasy Spoon all the time; you just need make an effort to choose smarter. You shouldn't feel deprived when you're doing something right for yourself. Eating healthy, nutritious food should feel like a reward for your mind, your body - and your taste buds ... and all it takes is a little creativity.

Good hub! Making the switches to healthier products and healthier food prep styles is sometimess difficult, but I'm really making some progress. Just thinking about beef really does me in...how bad it is for our systems, .... that 'no more beef' has been an easy change!
