Why You Should Switch To Organic Food
Have you tried eating organic yet? Many people and families are now eating foods that are grown organically due to the many benefits doing so gives them.
Organically raised foods develop their own natural defenses to survive as they are growing, making the foods richer in antioxidants. Organically raised produce does not contain the insecticides and other poisons that non-organically grown foods do so they are fitter for you. In order for a food item to be considered organic, it must be grown and processed in a certain way. Food is certificated as organic when farmers follow a stern set of rules the US Office of farming ( USDA ) set forth for them. They also don't use any man made insecticides in their fields.
Organic food are becoming more available as more retail firms need to please people who are attempting to eat better. Green foods can be discovered in grocery chain stores, farmers markets, natural foods stores, and on the web. When purchasing organic, unless you are purchasing at a farmers market, look and read labels. If purchasing at a farmers market verify that the food you purchase is grown organically. If purchasing from a store know what to go looking for on the label. If a label announces the food is 100 percent organic this suggests that all the ingredients in the food are certificated to be one hundred percent organic. If the label just announces organic, than at least 95% of the food item has to contain organically grown ingredients.
If the label announces the food item is formed with organic ingredients than at least seventy percent of the ingredients are organic and the rest has to come from a catalogue of USDA's authorized foods. Organic food must meet the same stern rules set forth by the USDA that non-organic foods must meet. Green foods are generally a bit more pricey than non-organically grown foods but the costs are coming down because they are becoming more available. Foods that are commercially grown and contain exaggerated levels of insecticides are the ones that you should start out going organic on and slowly switch your family over to all organically grown foods.
Whether what you eat is organic or non-organic it is often a good concept to bathe the fruit and vegetables before you eat them. You can remove some insecticides and dust by running the fruit and veg under running water. Soaking them isn't as useful as running water over them. If a plant or fruit has an outer layer like lettuce, peeling this outer layer can cut back the amount of insecticides that you consume. Don't peel apples, pears etc, because you'll be peeling away fiber and nutrients. When you select a selection of foods you reduce your chance of being exposed to a single insecticide. A selection of foods also increase the quantity of different nutrients in your diet.
Eating organic is not as difficult as its made out to be, and while its still more expensive that should change as more and more people realize the benefits. Do You?
