Healthy Way To Lose Weight

Crash diets, or sudden bursts of exercise, are definitely not the healthiest ways to lose weight. A gradual change is what the body likes in terms of food and exercise. To lose weight may sound like a huge task, however, by making a few easy changes you can get the ball rolling on losing some of your weight. The most effective way to do this is to reduce the amount of calories you eat and increase your levels of activity.

Some of the ways to reduce calorie intake without having to alter your diet significantly are as follows:

Replace soda drinks and fruit cordials with pure water.

Replace whole milk with semi-skimmed, or semi-skimmed milk with skimmed.

Eat less lunch than what you would eat normally. For example, prepare your own sandwiches and limit the use of butter and full-fat mayonnaise, etc.

Avoid, or add less, sugar in your tea and coffee.

Eat less of those fatty foods you enjoy.

Skip those unhealthy treats such as confectionary, sugary biscuits and crisps, especially between meals.

Drink less beer and alcohol.

When it comes to losing weight in a healthy and reasonable way, there are no shortcuts. So, think of weight loss in terms of permanently changing your eating habits. While weight-loss goals are usually set in terms of a short period of time, the end game is to sustain these changes over a long period of time.

However, don't be tempted to skip breakfast, or any meal for that matter, just to lose weight. Skipping a meal will reduce your calorie intake for that hour and will then actually leave you much hungrier later on. Irregular eating habits also disrupt your body's metabolism, which makes it even harder to lose weight in the first place. Increase your activity levels. Someone who increases the amount they exercise, but maintains the same diet and calorie intake, will almost certainly lose weight. Even if you hate gyms there are other exercise methods. A short 20 minutes walk each day will be beneficial. There are many ways to increase the amount of activity you do like team sports, racket sports, aerobics classes, running, walking, swimming and cycling. They will all improve your fitness levels.
