If you like blue flowers, the Heavenly Blue morning glory is one you will want in your garden. It has the most beautiful blue blooms that are 3 to 4 inches across that open in the morning. They are produced on a vine with large heart shaped rich green leaves. The vine grows vigourously.
An annual, which means it won't winter well, it is easily grown from seed planted directly into the ground. Though the plant itself won't grow the following year, at times it will reseed itself.
The seed has a hard coat. Soak the seeds in water overnight then put a small slit in one side before planting. I plant several seeds in one area then transplant them when they are three inches or taller.
If preferred you can plant the seeds indoors before planting season arrives.
One plant will produce an unbelievable vine. Do not fertilize this plant. It will not bloom if you fertilize it. Keep it well watered.
A great place to grow this is on a fence or put a large wire cage that you might use for tomato plants upside down in the garden and plant seeds at bottom. It will completely cover the cage as it grows and once it begins to grow the growth is unbelievably fast.
The flowers will begin to form after the vine is fully leafed out. Once they begin blooming it becomes very proliferous. Keeping the spent blooms picked promotes more blooms.
The vine can be pulled down in the fall once blooming is over or it can be left over the winter where it provides an interesting "sculpture" for the snow.

I grow them every summer just off of the back patio and everyone enjoys them... and also in the sunflower house.... along with the sunflowers.. and that is a treasured spot each summer for all the kids.

I used to grow blue morning glories on my baclony in a previous residence.
