Heavenly Sword is an animated, video game spanning over five episodes created by the famous artist Ben Hibon for the PlayStation 3 console. It is based on the martial arts Ninja and is directed by Andy Serkis.

The game of Heavenly Sword is based on a free style combat system similar to Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox or the Playstation game of God of War. This enchanting game tells you about the spectacular tale of revenge of the fierce, red haired heroine, Nariko against the assaulting king and his army using the heavenly sword, which once belonged to a powerful God.

This weapon can never be used by an earthly being without exhausting their life force making it a double edged weapon that is fatal not just against the invader but also to the person using it against the enemy. When the invading King wipes out the warriors defending the Heavenly Sword, the leader's daughter, Nariko, wields the heavenly sword as a last resort to put up a fight for survival. Nariko takes the risk of putting her life in jeopardy in her mission against the king before her life is taken over by the invincible Heavenly Sword...

The "Heavenly Sword" can change into one of three forms depending on the attack strategy adopted by the player. If you want swift but feeble attacks use the sword that looks like a chained blade whereas both effective and quick attacks can be launched when the sword takes the form of two separate blades. When the Heavenly Sword takes the shape of a massive dual handed blade, the most lethal but the slowest attacks are made.

This spine- tingling game unfurls some of the most thrilling and dramatic moments when Nariko, sets out on a rampage against the invading king, portrayed by Andy Serkis. To successfully complete her mission, Nariko should annihilate innumerable enemies before her life will be taken by the powers of the weapon she wields.

Players can design their own fighting style by opting for any three different styles and they also have the option of using potent spears and bazookas against the enemies apart from a counter system that allows players to stop the enemies attack. The game has many reaction commands, to which the user should rightly respond to, as these buttons pop up on the screen. There are also options to throw objects at the advancing hostile army.
