With the current credit crisis and the instability of not just our market but global markets worldwide, we are all filled with worry regarding our own financial future. Layoffs are rampant and people have never been as worried about their livelihood in my lifetime as they are right now. You have no control over the economy, marketplace or even the stability of the company you work for. But you do have an option to hedge your income against inflation and the ups and downs of the economy: Direct Sales.

There are a lot of woman and men out there that aspire to having their own business and being their own boss, in control of their income and financial stability. Typically this dream is never realized because of time, lack of confidence and lack of knowledge to take that first step and get started. However, there are numerous legitimate and proven opportunities in direct sales. Most people are turned off at the option of a direct sales business, because of the word “sales.” Some things to consider with a direct sales business:

-The start up cost is VERY inexpensive when compared to establishing a traditional business.

-The products, business plan and training have already been established so there is less time to get started.

-You decide how you want to run your direct sales business, you are your own boss setting your own schedule at your own pace.

-Much less risk than traditional brick and mortar businesses.

Now that you’re interest has peaked and you are now considering the many benefits of being involved with a direct sales company its time to look at the many options for you to choose from. Direct sales is a huge business and there are hundreds of direct sales companies to select from, some major corporations have direct sales opportunities as well. While traditionally the bulk of direct sales businesses are geared for women entrepreneurs, an entire array of direct sales companies have started to focus on direct sales opportunities for men. There is something out there for everyone; it may just take some time to find the direct sales opportunity that is appropriate for you.

Now that the internet is so prevalent there is no need to go door to door like they used to in the past. Entire direct sales companies are often ran solely online. Woman still do home parties which is still highly effective, but this is no longer the only option to in building a successful career in direct sales. Direct Sales shouldn’t be intimidating, and it shouldn’t be hard. Finding a good product line and effectively promoting it is all you have to do. Establishing an extra income, or quitting your job and working from home might happen sooner than you think!
