Heliodor - a Beryl Gemstone

Heliodor is a stone belonging to the Beryl Gemstones family. It is also referred to as Golden Beryl. The other members of the Beryl family include Emerald, Aquamarine, Goshenite, Morganite and Red Beryl. Heliodor is a comforting stone and is named after its pale yellow or golden yellow color from the Greek words ‘helios’ and ‘doros’ which means ‘gift from the sun’. The Greeks believed that heliodor contained the power and warmth of the sun and that it was responsible for the alternation of day and night. The color of this stone is due to the presence of iron in place of aluminum in the structure of the crystal. Heliodor is associated with the Zodiac Signs of Gemini and Scorpio and is the birthstone representing the month of November. This stone has a hardness rating of 7.5 with a hexagonal crystal structure and was discovered in Namibia in the year 1910.

Heliodor is associated with the Planet Jupiter and is a high energy stone and brings equilibrium to the wearer and give them courage for life and living. Heliodor is a stone for mental clarity, focused will, physical well being and higher consciousness. It can facilitate spiritual love and clairvoyance. Heliodor is good for clearing the body of toxins. This gemstone is also believed to improve communication quality and make one compassionate and sympathetic to others. It stabilizes the heartbeat and helps in the treatment of stomach and small intestines disorders. It also treats liver, spleen and pancreas problems. This stone is found in many places including Brazil, Pakistan, Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Madagascar, Ukraine, Namibia, Nigeria and the US.
