Personal weight management is important when dealing with snoring problems. Fatty tissues stored in their neck and throat of overweight people may put pressure on their airways, causing air flow passages. Getting into shape and staying in shape is very important to working with a snoring problem.
Some people snore when sleeping on their backs. Sleeping on your side may prevent snoring. Try placing a tennis ball in a sock and pinning it to the back of your pajama pants to force yourself to sleep on your side. What is your level of ingesting harmful, controlled, or medicinal substances? Tobacco smoking is linked to snoring. Excessive drinking is also linked to snoring. (If you have your last drink at least 4 hours before you go to bed, your body should have enough time to process the alcohol in time for some sound sleep.) These substances can cause your throat fatty tissues to relax, and restrict air flow. Are you using these substances in moderation, or are you partaking in greater amounts than is healthy? The muscles in your throat can be more relaxed after a night of drinking, and that can lead to raucous snoring.
Other substances you ingest should be carefully controlled. Caffeine can interfere with your sleep. Sleeping pills may cause similar effects, with the muscle relaxant property once again being responsible for the snoring issue. If you are taking Anti-histamines at bedtime, look for brands with compound loratadine as their active ingredient.
The humidity of your sleeping room is a concern. Dry rooms may dry out your throat, which can aid the vibrating that causes snoring. A cool water humidifier set on the floor next to your bed is a good way to deal with this problem if you wake up with a sore throat and dry mouth.
For allergy sufferers, try treating them with a decongestant, as opposed to anti-histamines. Any nasal congestion can lead to snoring issues. Decongestants, as opposed to anti-histamines, promote better sleep and clearer air passages.
If these tips don't help with snoring problems, investigate over-the counter remedies available at drug stores and grocery stores. Throat sprays offer lubrication for your uvula and throat, eliminating some of the resonance that occurs when you sleep. Try a pillow that offer neck support conducive to proper airway alignment. Nasal strips can help those whose problem principally lies with nasal congestion.
