Maddies Parrents named as official suspects
Madeleine's Parents have both been made official suspects in Portugal, I will reserve my judgement until the final outcome of this case that has touched the worlds heart.
If they were responsible in anyway for her dissapearence and possible death, the law should give them the maximum punishment possible.
This case has touched the world, and brought out the goodness in people, millions of messages of support from all over the globe have been sent to the family.
I hope and pray Gerry and Kate are found to be totaly innocent and that the person responsible is caught and brought to justice as soon as possible. my support stays with the McCann family until the truth is found.

I just don't have the words to convey my sadness and deep empathy for the McCanns. You have my love and support, and that of millions of others. Surely the goodwill in humanity can do something towards countering the evil. You - we all - MUST have Maddie back, whole and safe.

I am here in ireland, with 4 of my 5 children as one is expecting her first baby, and i cried as i saw you enter your home for the first time. I am a mother, and I feel in my heart. that what the police are doing is cruel as kate nor gerry had nothing to do with this, and kate, is very sure her daughter is still alive, and as a mother she would have a good idea...kate is also a doctor...who has told many parents when their child comes to her ill...how do you feel he/ she is...as a doctor she is aware of the bond....and It is most importent now that the world keeps looking...as if maddy is out there lets find her..and not think of the last few days...as they are the red herring..and kate feels strongly that maddy is out there somewhere.."and i believe her" but her apperance might be changed at this stage, so maybe another profile should be done, maddy with shorter hair...long dark hair, short dark hair, or dressed as a boy, as her face is everywhere, and her abducters may have changed her apperance,to be less noticable. my heart and prayers are with you.

If Kate and Gerry McCann are convicted of being involved in the disappearance of their daughter then I will lose complete faith in humanity. Of course there is every possibility that Madeleine's DNA would be present in the hire car even AFTER her disappearance. Everything they have may have traces of her hair etc! How can they possibly believe that under such close scrutiny they would be able to hide and dispose of a body??!! It is absolutely absurd and I truly believe that the authorities in Portugal are scraping the barrel because they have yet to make any breakthrough in the case and it's making them look incompetent. I don't care what people say about the McCanns lack of emotion in public - no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors and besides, being hysterical is not going to solve anything. I was in tears at the news coverage this evening, because I cant bloody believe that this case has turned so ugly and intrusive they still have two other children you know!!! Although the media can one minute be your best friend (as they were in the beginning with regards to raising the profile of the case) the next they can be your worst enemy - hounding these poor people to within an inch of their life. It must of been the hardest thing to leave Portugal WITHOUT Madeleine and all they had was a photographer right in their faces on a bloody motorbike! As far as I'm concerned, if these people are guilty then all I can say is they sure have some balls raising global awareness, gathering all this worldwide support knowing all the while they were the ones that did it!? To all people...I am portuguese,i was born in algarve and i am shocked with this case.Since the beginning i always support Mccann´s family.It´s very hard to believe that a father our a mother can do something horrible to a child.I hope the true come quickly.But don´t forget...this is not the first time that we heard about this things.We hope that is not the same.
My heart goes out to kate and gerry - the two parents of little maddie, who so wanted her through IVF, who have provided such a wonderful life as two professionals for her, who took her on holiday and never expected to return without her. Of course, we just do not know, but i really do feel that both parents are completely innocent. but what is more sad, is who is out there looking for maddie now? why wont the person responsible be the big one and turn themselves in. i just want her to be found. every news report brings a tear because it is one more day without seeing her mummy or daddy. its just too sad. love to you, kate, gerry and the twins xxx

What a strange case it happen in May in Portugal and May is the most religious months in Portugal when many offerings and sacrifices are made to our Lady of Fatima and unless you are constantly asking God for forgivenesss I do not believe that a good catholic would be straight into church after such a tragedy you would have to come to terms with reality first and then make your peace with God.
I think the police should investigate the Mc Canns and their friends religious backgrounds and now that they're back in UK the British police should take over the investigation and leave no stone unturned for the sake of Madeleine and not the parents. Madeleine is the victim lets not forget that.

It appears increasing numbers have long felt that the parents killed the poor little girl. Whilst this may have been an accident the issue of sedatives used and the negligence shown by leaving the young kids alone at night has disgusted me and removed the last doubt that I have had. It increasingly appears that they calculated or where able to constantly throw the Police and the rest of the world off the scent which they ever increasingly wild claims. Now we hear they are claiming a set up! I appreciate they like everyone is innocent until proven guilty but to many this is just a matter of time.
Whilst I have faith that the much maligned Portugues Police - maligned by the media machine put into motion by the manipulation of these parents - I believe that they have made the break through most objective people have for sometime felt would come to prove that they are guilty of such a terrible thing. It is a tragedy that a little girl has been murdered and that the lives of the other children has also been ruined as such I can find no compassion for these two people. I hope Portuguese justice can find these two guilty as many beleive they are, however, I suspect that they will use the money from they religious group, the donations and all other means to get their highly paid solicitor to get them off the hook.
This is a very strange story right from the beggining.
I really find it so weird that NO ONE speaks about the fact that the couple, (doctors and very inteligent people) left their 2 and 4 year old children alone, left to their own, to go and have DINNER. They had the money to hire a nanny if they wanted. If it had happened to people who don't have their kind of money they would be arrested by now and the twins would be in foster care or with other family members. It could happen here in Portugal or in England. The result would be the same. And isn't it strange that the 1st call they made when Madeleine disappeared wasn't to the Police but to an English TV Channel?!
Before all of this happened, the Portuguese Police was considered one of the best in the world. Now they're 3rd world Police. If the McManns were accused it was thanks to the help and conclusions of the ENGLISH POLICE AND LABS. Not just the Portuguese police so PLEASE STOP ACCUSING the Portuguese Country and Police of being in the 3rd world. English people come to live in Portugal for ages. And they're very happy.
Childreen kidnaping is much higher in England than in Portugal. Everyone knows that. That's why we accepted the help from English Police.
Someone in this forum wrote that Madeleine's DNA found in the rented car was normal since it could be transported by the parents clothes and the kids toys. The problem is that they found Madeleine's BLOOD in the car. Not hairs. That was an English Lab conclusion, not Portuguese. The smell of a corpse on her Teddy Bear; again found by English Dogs handled by English Police. The same smell that Kate had on her clothes. She said that it was because she got it while working on the hospital. Aren't doctors supposed to wear a doctor's coat while working!? And what about the questions she never answered to the Police. Yes, there were some questions that Kate simply refused to answer.
I really don't know if they did it or not. I hope not and hope Madeleine appears alive and kicking, but till then let police (Portuguese or English) work. Stop criticizing and remember that this is not a Portuguese investigation. It's a joint investigation with Portuguese and English police working together trying to find out the truth.

I think it`s about time that we wake up and see what is going on...
Although it may seem harsh to involve Madelines parents as posiibly being involved in her disappearance.
I is incumbent on the law to cover all aspects of the case and to investigate fully all circumstances and individuals.
There are also other suspects who are undergoing investigation. Yet surely it must be better to have been suspected (and cleared) .
However the ugly words "fit up" are already going the rounds and in this day ang age it appears there are and will continue to be "fit ups" made by responsible parties to suit some form of twisted logic.
I sincerely hope no matter what, that justice is done and the Guilty party or parties are brought to trial.

I live in the US, I have 2 children, 2 beautiful children. I think that the parents have done something to or with this child. Parents are killing their children all the time. Children are not as precious as they should be! How could they leave this country, not having a clue where their child was, how are they not frantic!!!!! How could they even leave those children in that room by theirselves???? How did someone know that those children were in that room by themselves and why was Maddie the only one to go missing? Are these questions being ignored? Why do they still ahve custody of there other children? In the US, the state would seize those children and place them in protective custody. It is very unfortunate that some law is so careless. What will they do when their other children disappear? They should rot in hell!

It does not surprize me that they are now suspects in this case.First of all what kind of parents go out and leave their three young children on thier own.Why didnt they avail of the babysitting services available to them in the hotel complex.How could they leave them and even enjoy their meal is beyond me.They are totally irresponsible parents.I could never quite understand the meeting with the pope etc if it were my child i would be so distraught i could not imagine even having the strength to do these things.Everyone was fully aware she was "missing".

i feel for the parents of Madeleine but i feel there is more to the story of this poor little child going missing i just wounder are the police doing enough to find this young beautiful girl that seems to have fanished i believe that in some way she will be found there is hope.
i believe if the police think the parents of this child are involved why dont they do a lie dector test on them. i do not believe that the parents have had anythin to do with there baby going missing.

The McCanns could have used a free childcare service provided by Mark Warner (the holiday company) which does EXACTLY what the McCanns did - it's still advertised on their website as company nanies performing regular walk-in checks on children asleep in their parents' apartments, while their parents eat on site. If it's safe enough that the holiday company still offer it (and must be insured to do so) it must be an accepted practice. Personally I'd not leave tiny children alone, but if the company are still confidently offering this as a safe (and free) service, then it's hardly fair to blame parents who went the extra mile and did the checking themselves.
I have no idea what happened - none of us do. I do think that it would be pretty bizarre for parents to kill their child, hide the body, then work tirelessly to hold the world media's attention, even transferring the body under that attention. If the McCanns hadn't courted the media, had quietly gone home and left the case cold, the British experts would never have been called in and they'd never have been suspected. It seems pretty odd that a guilty couple would have done as they have, and for intelligent people to use a media campaign to launch an investigation that could only incriminate them, seems quite extraordinary. Not impossible, given the levels of denial guilty parents must operate under, but highly improbable. Only time will tell.
As to seeming cold - shock and grief affect people very differently, and perhaps they just look like people who are not prone to sharing their emotions with strangers. We may feel we know them, but we don't. And given the media in Portugal are now saying Kate McCann is a hysteric and unstable, because she reacted to badly to being accused...it seems she can't win. None of us know the truth, and if those parents are innocent then dealing with this as well as losing their daughter must be a Calvary beyond all imagination.
I just want to lend my support to the McCanns who must be in hell right now. They have to be innocent. They could never have calmly done what the police are accusing them of and then carry out a missing persons campaign in the full glare of the worlds media. From the minute Madeline was found to be missing, this couple were never alone for months. Someone please enlighten me as to how they could possible 'store' a body for several weeks and then get up in the middle of night, transfer a body into a car boot and drive to a location to dispose of the body. All without being seen? Next to impossible in my opinion. I pray they had nothing to do with her disappearance and the ultimate 'happy ever after' story would of course be the finding of Madeleine safe ad well. This has to happen as that couple will forever be tarnished if she is not found.

I don't think the fact they returned home arter being declared suspects proves anything. Why should the twins be subjected to the sound of their parents being booed? They came home for their sakes, and the fact they had been made to feel unwanted by the locals.

If they did do it, they would have needed an accomplice to move the body using the rented car. They rented the car the day before their visit to the Vatican, all media eyes were on Rome, accomplice moves body. It's a bit fantastic to imagine someone agreeing to help them in this way, but it's a scenario all the same

Lucy grow up! you obviously haven't been following this case closely for those who have why did we never hear anymore about the intruder who was caught jumping out of the bedroom window of the old lady who lives directly above the Mccanns appartment? This hapened three days before and her young niece was flown back to Portugal to give a statement but we never heard anything more? Also it was reported the Mccanns appartment was broken into weeks before but there was no sign of break? It was suggested a key had been used. Have the police investigated people who stayed in that room months or even a year before who may have got a copy of the key. This could have been a well organised rehearsed plan. Have all avenues been exhausted I don't believe so and the Mccans are being framed they are innocent and my heart goes out to them
I dont know what has happened of course but it is very sad that if the parents are not guilty they are still are going through even more hell. I hope, for the sake of the twins, that the parents are not involved as otherwise these children's lives will be ruined as Madeleine's life was...There is no point in judging them because of their reaccions, expressions, what they do or they dont. We probably dont know half of what is going on. These people should still be treated with respect. I will not say i know they are not guilty as other people do, i find that ridiculous as we dont know them. All i can say is that i hope justice is done, that you get punished if you hurt her or that you be let go if you didnt and, more important, that the search continues for her as much as possible.

We don't know the McCanns - we do not know what happened on that night - we are just being drip fed scrappy bits of information - and I really don't think people should be judged on their facial expressions or their demeanour. For Gods sake, why don't people keep quiet about them until they know the truth of what happened. It the Mc Canns are not found guilty I hope all those who have castigated them will come on and apologise.
Please could someone tell me why the police keep bringing up these other questions? Kate's diary, her laptop (or this her diary) and now the Church. Are the Portugese police clutching at straws?. Surely in a crime such as this, time is of the essence and every avenue should have been explored sooner rather than later. I desperately hope that they are not guilty of a crime. I have to listen to the news as much as possible hoping to hear something good.

DNA has been found which makes me wonder wether they really did do it. The look on kates face spells GUILTY, i dunno what 4 but its either leaving the kids alone or harming madeline. Discrace, I have two children (they look after me now, they're 15 & 18]. We never left them alone, we paid for babysitters (on our wages we didn't go out much), The first time we went abroad was when the youngest was 8 years, they came everywhere with us. The next time, the youngest was 12 & the eldest was 14 nearly 15).........We had a ball.
We had very little money we're not doctors! But, our children were [are] the most important in the world. Why not the McCann's? Why not Madeleine?
No Child that young should have been left alone in a hotel room. The parents should have been charged with Child Endangerment immediately!

First of all i would like to say well said Bernie and secondly does everyone have their heads stuck in the sand?I just cant understand all the supposedly letters of support these people are receiving.Madeleines DNA was found in the apartment and in their hired car by BRITISH forensics experts.Also to suggest the Portugese police are trying to set these people up is ludicrous these people are in denial.Now i hear on sky news the McCanns are setting up a new campaign to find thier "missing" daughter do they think everyone is totally deluded?These people are really insulting everyones intelligence trying to come across as responsible parents.They should have never left those three small children alone in the first place.I really feel sorry for the other two children and Madeleine where ever she is.

i would just like to say that i dont think kate and gerry mccann had anything at all to do with maddys disappearance,they are totally guilty of leaving their children alone in a strange country as they could certainly afford to hire a nanny or some sort of child care, but i am totally convinced that that is all they have done wrong.i think everyone forgets that maddy is still missing, and we should not judge kate or gerry until we know the truth, my heart goes out to both of them and the twins,
I think the parents should go quiet now and let the criminal justice system work out the evidence and where it goes from here. I personally don't think another wave of advertising posters will make any difference, the whole world knows this child is missing unless they have been asleep for 4 months. Most people have heard enough now, they know the parents were totally wrong to leave those wee kids alone, for how many nights? but did they murder her? dispose of the body? Did you write that just to see if you could shock people. It is sick ! We all know that there are lots of missing children. Do you want us to do nothing and maybe 2 innocent people be charged for murder. How would you feel if it was YOU! How would you feel if it was your child! I agree they shouldn't have left them but they are suffering now for leaving them. The hasve suffered enough. OK first of all why are you all attacking each other about grammer? People on this site feel very strong about this case and want to put their opinions forward asap. In fairness I can't type quick enough after reading some of these blogs so excuse me if I make a mistake, you don't need to write back! I'm really blue in the face at this stage listening to the do-gooders bang on about 'poor Kate and Gerry, God be with you, we support you, you're soooo innocent' give me a break! Ok, let's just look at the facts that we know and stop guessing about what might have been, Kate and Gerry left their 3 kids alone, it doesn't matter whether or not they checked every half hour or not, they left their 3 kids, under the age of 4, alone in a strange place - that in itself is child abuse, but it is also a criminal offence and is also the number one reason why Madeleine is gone, why has everybody lost sight of this FACT. They should have been put on trial months ago and send a message to all the other parents that have been on in support of them and who have said the also leave their kids alone when they go out. When are people going to wake up, you can't leave 3 year olds alone!
I fully support the search for Madeleine but I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell of finding her alive. Personall I believe the McCann's have responsibility for her being missing, firstly as per my comments above but I also believe they are physically responsible, possibly accidentally, but still responsible. They had more opportunity than anybody else to get rid of the body and in my opinion probably before reporting her missing. They have never shown genuine grief, they have shown absolutely no remorse for abandoning their kids and they have never once expressed their guilt - if it was me, I'd be blaming myself for the rest of my life and would be inconsolable. They have always come across as being very calculated and rehearsed in what they say and the only time I saw Gerry cry was when HE was accused of involvement, this is not normal behaviour.
By the way, I have a daughter, she has been away on holidays with us approx every 6 months and she is now 7, she has never been left alone in any apartment or any where else, she has caused us to have a few earlier nights than we may have otherwise had but she has also been welcomed in every restaurant and every bar we brought her to, holiday resorts cater for children, you do not need to abandon your kids to have fun.
So when you answer this in your head or in a reply, just ask, would you leave your kids under the age of 4 alone for 30 minutes while you sit in a bar having a drink. If you answer yes then sit with your child and ask them would they mind if you left them alone in a strange place.
Sorry for going on so long and I know I have deviated from sticking to the facts but despite this, the one fact remains that Kate and Gerry are ultimately responsible and should be held accountable, as should anyone else who leaves kids alone.

I was in the Agarve last sept with 2 friends & was very disappoined that there were hardly any posters abround the Cities of Albufeira & Lagos (which is not too far from where Madeline was snatched from. Tonight I have just watched a documentary on Kate & Jerry , God love them . My heart was breaking for you.
When I was in the Algarve last year everywhere we went we kept an eye out hoping we would find little Madeline but no joy I'm afraid.
I don't no how some people think that her parents killed her, you only have to look at them & see how heartbroken & devasted they are. I'm sure they blame themselves like any parent would. As for the Portugese Police, they are blaming them because they didn't do their job properly from the start. If they had've done they would have found her by now.

I am the mother of a sexually abused child. My husband, her father abused her. I did not know. When I did find out i rang the police. He got 1yr and served 6 months, despite being a civil servant his child support was not recovered and was written off at £ 5000+. If he had been a taxi driver maybe it could have been hard to recover but he was a civil servant and it should have been take from his salary. so is our government.
I watched the programme tonight and I thought what my daughter and I went through was nothing like what you have to live with. My son is now 23 my daughter 22 and although they no longer live with me I know where they are. I wouldnt sleep if I didnt.
I can not imagine what you must feel like not knowing where your little girl is.

I don't think enough is being done, I live in south spain and down loaded the posters and took them to the two nearest ports that go to Morocco no one who worked their new about her not even the police. I put lots of the posters up but I feel their was no interest their considering the ports are only four hours away from were she was taken and very easy to go through as I have been their with my own children I think their should have been some sort of alert put at these points.My hart goes out to that little girl.

Just got back from one weeks holiday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. My thoughts were on Madeleine, I even looked at all the little blonde girls on the beach. There was no news about her out there. But there were missing posters of her in the arrivals hall in Manchester Airport. Very sad to hear she is still missing on our return. Thoughts and prayers are with Madeleine and her family. was the staff of the hotel where madeline was taken from questioned.they could easily have her in their house during the day while they go to their work.who knew that they did not have a babysitter booked.the staff of the hotel might have been angry that the Mc Canns did not avail of this service in their hotel and someone decided to take wee madeline.i feel that she is still nearby,some of the staff have to be questioned and searches carried out.

The first day I seen Maddy's photo, I have been sending prayers to my universe to help reunite this child, who is a gift from above, with her loving parents. I am from Australia in nsw and have been gifted with visions, which I have never seriously listened to until I saw Maddy. I understand that there are some sick humans out there, and that is why I have actually tried to get this info to someone from the angels giving hope, that you will please take my vision seriously as I am sure that at this time. you will please look into this info as it will not hurt but just might help OK. There were 2 words in my vision which are: Terrace and Close. It maybe Terrence Close or a Terrace at the end of a Close. Or maybe a Close Terrace in proximity to where Maddy went missing.Or a Terrace house, which I understand you have in England. I am unsure but Please investigate anything in relation to these two words as I have never told anyone that I have visions but to look into Maddy's eyes, it was like she was telling me to say something, so I am trying ok. I am a mother of six chrildren ages range from 1year to 8years with no twins ect; I would never laeve eney of my chrildren alone in ENGLAND OR ABROAD. This is why i can not understand you left all your chrildren alone . We take our chrildren on holiday to enjoy them if its getting late we all go to bed or the chrildren fall asleep in there pushchairs beside us.
