Hemorrhoids are caused when tissues and varicose veins in the anal area get swollen. Straining during bowel movement can sometimes be inevitable and this may result to inflammation, causing bleeding hemrrhoids.

Bleeding hemrrhoids can have an effect on your daily activities because of irritation, so it is important to get proper treatment. Aside from constipation and straining, sitting in one position for a long time can also cause hemorrhoids. Remember that anybody can acquire the condition, even those who lead healthy lifestyles. Though hemorrhoids are not critical, there are cases where surgery could be necessary in order to get rid of hemorrhoids completely.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids can sometimes be very unbearable that it may be difficult to do simple activities such as sitting down or defecating. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to lessen the pain caused by the condition. Aside from over the counter medications, there are easy and effective treatments that can be prepared at home.

For instance, sitz bath is an effective remedy to alleviate the pain caused by hemorrhoids. It is recommended to take a warm bath for at least fifteen minutes, three times everyday. The affected area must be rubbed and washed gently using mild soap. It is also best to take sitz baths after bowel movement in order to prevent infection.

Creams and ointments can be applied to the affected area. These products are available in most pharmacies and can be bought over the counter. Because of the pain and itchiness caused by hemorrhoids, creams and ointments are helpful in lessening the symptoms. Make sure to purchase hemorrhoid products that contain natural ingredients to prevent side effects.
