Henna Body Painting

Henna body painting is the most ancient form of body painting. It is a semi permanent form of body art. It is used in both Middle East and India for thousands of years. Henna designs are very beautiful and pleasant.

Previously, henna was applied to the hair as a nourisher to get strong and shiny hair, but today henna body painting can be done on any non-bending area of the skin surface. Usually, people use henna paste rather than traditional henna.

Henna gives a cool sensation at the time of application but, sometimes, it causes allergies like dermatitis or itching. If one develops any allergies by getting painted henna on the skin, it is good to avoid it further.

The Method of Applying Henna:
A mixture of henna powder, oil and lemon juice is applied to the skin using a plastic cone or brush and then it is wrapped with a tissue paper. Wrapping helps in locking the body heat, creating an intense color on the skin. The final color is reddish brown and can last for a week to several months depending on the quality of the henna paste.

Since, henna works as a stain on the body, there is no good method for its removal. The lasting feature of henna stain depends on its application time on the skin. If applied for minutes or a few hours, it stays only for few days to one week. If you keep it for many hours or overnight, it stays up to 4 weeks.

Henna Body Painting In the United States:
Henna body painting has become very popular in the United States because the henna body art resembles life-like tattoos that one can get at a tattoo parlor. However, one great advantage to getting henna art painted on your body is that it is less-permanent than black-ink tattoos.

Styles In Henna Body Painting:
Though, there are many styles of henna body paintings, traditionally, Middle Eastern people use the henna body art and paintings usually on their hands and feet. However, in the United States henna body painting takes on a whole different form. Instead of traditional designs they want to exhibit their special persons' names and animals on their body.

Safety Tips for Face Painting

Face painting is a fun task for which people spend a lot of time and money. It looks so simple to have your face painted, but it needs to follow several safety guidelines. The safety steps are more important in the perspective of health. If you are ready to get your face painted, approach a professional and licensed face painter and make sure he is following all the safety steps regarding face painting.

Here Are Some Safety Tips for Face Painting:

Use 'Safe for Skin' Paints:
All non toxic paints are not safe for skin and non toxic paint does not mean that it is safe to put on the skin. Acrylic craft paints and water markers or pencils are not to be used on the skin. Water color markers or washable markers do not remove from the skin easily. It can take few days to get the stain removed. There are many brands of safe paints, which are not more expensive than craft paints.

The Glitter:
The glitter can make a big difference in body painting. Avoid using metallic craft glitter for painting. The only safe glitters for skin and as well face painting are made up of polyester. The polyester glitters should be smaller than 0.008 microns in size. FDA classifies this size as 'cosmetic size'.

Brushes and Sponges:
Use safe and clean brushes and sponges for face painting. Cleaning brushes and sponges with alcohol can progress certain types of bacterial growth because alcohol is not an effective sanitizer. If you paint face with the brush that is cleaned with alochol, it can cause pain to sensitive tissue.

Considerate Health:
Face painting should be avoided for any one who has a contagious illness, wounds and open sores. Face painting is not recommendable for those who have acne. Rubbing to remove the paint can also cause redness and infection to the sensitized skin.
